This is something easy to find out but since I'm trapped in the jail we all call work I can't easily find out myself so I figured I'd ask. Can you destroy enemy oil fields or other strategic resources or luxuries or just cut all road and rail connections to them rendering them unavailable?

Aslo do most of you play with the workers set to automate or do you micro them all yourself?

You can only cut off the road connections, although occasionally resources in use will deplete, and the resource moves to another area. Cutting off the AI road connections usually works pretty well if the resource is distant from their city, otherwise they tend to repair it pretty quickly, so I'd recommend razing their city as well.

As for workers I micro them to some degree, up to the point when most are just sitting around waiting for pollution, when I stick them on 'pollution control' ctrl-shift-p.

I tried to put half of my workers on Manual and the other half on automatic.
They ended up destroying each others improvement . I tured a square into "irrigation" and on the same turn an automated worker turned it back to "mine", causing starvation in the city... And this for several turn ... Grr
Sure, working "manually" is a pain but at least you get what you want.

for the workers use Shift-a - then they leave existing improvements alone. but do keep a few on manual ofr new res or long distance road and rail building and pollution clean up
