Just upgraded from GeForce 440 to 6600gt video card and graphics are much better and can now watch wonder clips:D . BUT the mouse cursor is flickering in out and its driving me insane!:crazyeye: I figure switching drivers might help but had compatibility issues with some windows media and other programs with the first several drivers. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to fix this without getting new drivers???

Im running a Celeron 2.4 Gh
512 RAM
around 2 gigs free on the drive

Thanks for your help

That is my problem exactly. I have been searching and searching for a fix, but have yet to find one that works. Had this problem on my old comp, but it only had a 64meg integrated vid card, so I figured that was the problem. Now that I have the Radeon x1400 - 256mb vid card (and updated drivers)... I still have the same problem. It's sooooo annoying. I also have the same problem with Project Entropia. Anyone have ideas on this problem?

I had the same problem but somehow I fixed it. Don't know exactly what I did, but most likely you all can fix it if you make some settings adjustments..trial and error.

I get this aswell, i dont know how to fix it either. I used to have a problem like this with a game called Heroes of Might and Magic and the fix was simple, all you had to do was lower the video acceleration by one notch. It doesnt help with Civ 4 tho :(

I have a GeForce 6800 gpu with the latest drivers (March 2006). P4 cpu.

Although it doesnt affect gameplay it is highly annoying and any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have attached my dxdiag if that will help anyone!

Thanks
Daniel

omg i feel like such a noob. well, i don't know if this works for Civ4, but it worked for the same exact problem I was having in Project Entropia, so it should follow that it works in civ4 (the cd is at home so I can't check till later tonight)...

Goto your control panel, open the mouse settings. For the pointer... Make sure it's something calm and normal (like 3-d white or something, NOT animated). Also, make sure you don't have tails on your pointer. I put my mouse back to those settings (I had a small tail and an animated mouse). once you set those back to normal, try running the game. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you. i feel like such a noob for not having even thought of the correlation between the two until now... grrrrr...

OMG - of course!!!

I never even thought about this either! It makes total sense. I had the longest tails you can have (due to having a dual screen system) and now that i have removed them the game is sorted.

I was beginning to give up hope, i had convinced myself that it was due to the fact i have a dual screen system and was getting ready to reduce my system to single screen in the hope it would work. Thankfully i wont have to now.

Thanks Xanther!

I had this, but I had when I tried reducing my graphics acceleration in an attempt to fix the CTD problem. I suspect that trying various acceleration settings will fix it.
