According to this thread, underclocking seems more useful. It can help a lot even indirectly: no need to add new power-consuming fans or cooling systems, not to mention the increased stability.
lol.. yeahy, if you're o/cing thought the BIOS, go only 5-10 Mhz at a time, if you're using a software rpgoram, you can go 10-15 with some, not many... If you're going with Hardware o/cing... well.... mayb 1-5 Mhz.. it's gonna take you a while...
I had to underclock my old GF2 once. The fan on the heatsink failed and it constantly overheated. Then I got frustrated with the thing and tore off the old heatsink and installed a new passive one with heat conducting paste and quick glue.
