Has anyone seen this before?

I've looked through all of these and I have yet to see anything like this yet. When I try to install Civ4...about 1/3 of the way through installation a box pops up that says this;
Feature: DefaultFeature
Component: Civ4Component
File: E:\data2.cab
Error: DataError (cyclic redundancy check)
Once I click ok..the installation shuts down.

I would be most grateful if someone could put that in English for me and explain how to make it stop!!!

the most common reason for this is a damaged/dirty disc - try cleaning it with a soft dry cloth...

you are correct. it happens when your disc is damaged. had a large crack in mine. only way i found worked was to try to install it 20000000000 times and once in a while it worked. but cleaning it would be a start. or get a disc repair kit. or take it sumwhere where they fix discs like eb games or sumthin. or buy a new disc if all else fails
