Here are the Hawaiian Islands on a huge map. It doesn't feel huge though because there isn't honestly a lot of land. Enough to play a good game though, I tested this.
Terrain is balanced - ie not large blocks of one type of terrain as some user created maps are. Every island has some trees, jungles, planes, hills etc. Tundra is the only one not on the map - its a tropical paradise!
Resources are mixed - some islands have near monopolies of some of the luxuries - encouraging trade. Note that overall resources are rather limited. The placement of them is 100% game balance only, not based on any sort of real resource location. There are wild donkies on Hawaii but they are non-native, and good luck finding ivory there in real life but ya gotta make the game fun, right?
Included on the map are Hawaii (2), Maui (1), Molokai (1), Oahu (1), Kauai (1), Kahoolawe (0), Lanai (0), Nihau (0), and Kaula (0). Numbers in () are how many starting locations are on that island. I think 6 civs is the upper limit for a fun game because of the small amount of land (lots of water).
