He-177

Looking at many models created, i like the way the glass is starting to look in so far as the front and the turrett. (the plane lends itself to this) The dark and simple color helps the illusion/effect.

I suggest any model aircraft that has a prominate glassed-in area
may provide a unique look for a model.
(the little helicopter with the round bulby cockpit the u.s. used in korea comes to mind-but as a game unit it has no place i can think of- or the Black Widow)

also if the Surcouf had been armed with the Henschel Hs 293
and a Wildcat with pontoons, it would have made the Bismark run home to the Fuerer.

Well, if the Surcouf was so great, maybe it would have stopped the Germans from over-running france in six weeks...

FOR SALE:
French Army rifle -- Never fired, only dropped once.

France was over-run because of bad generals not bad equipment.
(and bad allies- the British secretly wanted the French to fall)
I think the French Foreign Legion did well and of course the glorious Surcouf (the only ship to conquer an island in 15 minutes- a feat that took americans weeks and a million ships to do - guam) was a modern Corsair
and made a strategic withdraw which made the germans reluctant to send out the Bismark for fear the daring french vessel was cruising nearby.

Oh, nevermind! Lighten-up people...

You know, buddy, this thread is taking a definite turn for the worse. Not only what you are implying has no basis in reality, but it is downright offensive to say the least.

The French Foreign Legion defeated the vaunted Rommel - the most over-rated general of ww2. The battle of Bir Hakeim

Hitler stated :It is a new proof of the thesis I've always supported; namely, that French are still, after us, the best soldiers in Europe.

Churchill :"Holding back for fifteen days Rommel's offensive, the free French of Bir Hakeim had contributed to save Egypt and Suez canal's destinies."

I take buddy, you have chosen to completely ignore the other comments that have no basis in reality and is downright offensive to say the least.

If you're going to get upset with people making completely baseless statements that make no sense what-so-ever, you need to be non-biased and quote everyone making ridiculous claims, or your own complaint bears no merit.

You can't cherry-pick what you find baseless when there's a lot of BS floating around here. Or did you find the above quote quite true?

Well the thread is about the model- which is well done-
Those german planes with all glass fronts look futuristic to me.
in so far as comments- they are in the vein of alternate history which is within the context of things.- speculation, lyricism.

DK's model is quite good... even if it's a little chubby.

I wouldn't go as far as saying Britain "wanted" France to fall, but they certainly were ill-prepared to fight a land war on the continent. This contributed to the BEF's very limited resources, and in part also, to France's unability to hold off the Germans.

The biggest problem France had was that it fell in the trap Germans laid: moving the best part of its army into Belgium. Once it became clear that the intended invasion was through the Ardennes, the French army found itself unable to move back to proper defensive positions.

This wasn't an army trained to move rapidly, its tanks weren't designed to cover hundreds of miles on roads so tended to break down alot, and it had insufficient means to recover disabled tanks and repair them on the field. As a result, the French were never able to reestablish proper defensive lines, and kept continuously falling back to try to accomplish just that.

This absolutely doesn't mean French soldiers were just "fleeing", something rather immature and ill-informed anglo-saxon gamers would want everyone else to believe. Come on -- French rifle/brand new/dropped only once... perhaps a joke but a crass one at best! The rate at which Germans accumulated casualties during the few weeks of the French campaign was the highest in WWII Wehrmacht history -- higher even than the Russian campaign. The French also suffered more than 30% casualties trying to fight off Germans. The concept that the French are a cowardly people is essentially promoted by some who are either ignorant of the truth or deliberately dishonest.

Wolfshanze, I started to appreciate more your contributions in the modding community but now I'm feeling your stubbornness insulting french military very annoying. What's wrong with you ? Do you know how many casualty U.S.A. will suffer if France attacks this country. That's not gonna happen anytime soon but you just have to think about that before any wild statement.
On a side note, I'm not involved into military and I don't care much usually but you must stop now, y' know.

You sure do overrate the Surcouf, and not for the first time ;)

You guys take things waaaaaaaaaay too seriously around here. Like I invented the French Military joke thing... you guys all need to lighten-up. "Oh no, I'm offended at the slightest hint of a very old joke that's been around for 60 years".

I suppose next you complain to the moderators that you have been offended by a French military joke... mind you... joke.

Do you guys seriously believe that all jokes are factual statements, and that everyone who passes on a joke believes them to be literal truths.

Seriously guys... you're debating the value of the French military based on a joke post.

Really... Ambreville, Snipperrabbit... you guys need to get out more and enjoy life instead of worrying whether or not you're offended by a very old, very common joke. Both of you have paper-thin skins... to start defending the value of the French military over something so obviously a joke... really now...

The proper counter to a French military joke is a German or American joke. Lighten-up guys... you take things way to seriously... you guys live in sterilized worlds or something... lighten-up and have fun instead of getting offended at the stupidist of things.

P.S.
I love that the same people being so offended by said joke are completely okay with the incredibly non-sensical pro-french claims that sponsored the joke in the first place.

Offensive jokes are just that... OFFENSIVE. You should know better than going around and making the kinds of jokes you know full well will spark arguments. Not to mention your feeble excuse comes off as totally hypocritical. Why don't you try and make a racial joke and claim it was "just a joke"? Do you truly believe an excuse like this one is acceptable? Who are you trying to fool? Your joke is unacceptable. It's not those whom you offend who should take your insults gracefully, it's you who should learn some manners.

I apologize for not being politically correct... you sir, are the pillar of truth and righteousness.

Please begin the book burnings now... let's start with all tapings of "All in the Family".

and you, a sore looser.
Ooooh... name-calling. Now I'm offended.

What happened to the perfect sterile world where everyone agreed on everything and nobody said a single word to offend anyone else? Ambreville didn't even make it out of an hour before he started going around being offensive and name-calling. (10:09, the pillar of political correctness... 10:56, name-calling).

Well, to be perfectly honest... I forgive you Ambreville... because I have a skin made-up of something thicker then tissue paper... and even though you used offensive language towards me, I realize you are a human being with a differant opinion and outlook on the world then I have...

I spent 20-years of my life in the military defending your right to have a differant opinion then mine.

And you know what? I'm okay with that. I'm not offended at all... differances are what makes the world interesting. It'd be pretty boring if everyone just agreed with everyone else.
