I created a scenario,and it was working great, but I was dissatisfied with the leaders. So I opened the WBS file with TextPad and changed the leader types. But while I was in there, I decided to change the leader names to as follows:

Question: Did I do it incorrectly, because when I loaded up the scenario afterwards, not only was it showing e.g. TXT_KEY_LEADER_SOLOMON, it also showed a blank map and "YOU HAVE BEEN DEFEATED!!!"

You, of course, backed up your work before making these sweeping changes. Right? Because you need to revert back to the previous version and only make one change at a time, testing each one before you add more stuff.

Regarding the names, the "TXT_KEY_" things you edited are just that - they're XML tags that identify the actual strings making up the real names. The proper way would be to not change the tags, but instead hunt down where the names are defined in the XML. Look in the Text sub-folder.

Since the entries will be scattered between Vanilla, Warlord and BtS XML files, you might as well make your own Text XML file for all your custom text. So you make new entries for all the Leaderhead XML tags found in your WBS. Then you can rename them anything you like.

And i think stolenrays is right, you must have accidentially deleted something somewhere.

...because they you can simply replace the XML tag with the name string?
 
I just am making a scenario for Community Civ V, and I wanted the names to be whatever I wanted them to be (e.g. Etruscan Leader, Great Antelope Warrior, King Aarhus II) but I can't do that without screwing that up.

NOTE: I fixed the blank map error, I just undid what I did in the WBS, and restarted the game.
 
Instead of going:
LeaderName=TXT_KEY_LEADER_LIBYAN_PRINCESS
Try:
LeaderName=Libyan Princess
That way the scenario doesn't have to go through the text key entries in the XML.
