I tried the Communism and that did not work well... I still don't unsderstand how people can like it when it is a "lose money" government... Anyways...

I don't use paratroopers. Sooo, I have a couple questions on them. Can they paradrop from carriers or transports? Say you use a battleship to bombard a coastal city, or even fighters/bombers to hit an inland city from a carrier. Once the enemy units are gone, is it possible to paradrop into the uninhabited AI city FROM A TRANSPORT OR CARRIER?

I hardly ever build helicopters either, although recently, I did build one when I saw barbs harrassing a neighboring civ's city that was not accesible by fighter or bomber for me. I went and attacked the city but didn't take it. Next turn, the barbs moved in... :goodjob: Didn't help me really, but it was strangely satisfying to screw the enemy like that. :D

Nope.

You can only paradrop from cities (airbases too?? - must test it).

Note: Your paratrooper unit must not have moved yet (even when you didn't spend any movement points?? - must test it too)

If it just has moved along a rail then it can still paradrop.

After a few tests, the results are:

You can paradrop from a city or airbase.

The unit must have all its movement points (Ex.:it can arrive at city/airbase by rail and then paradrop, but you can't paradrop a unit with 2/3 of movement).

Veteran paratroopers are my favourite. I use them all the time. Just paradrop to a mountain to stop the enemy, or take a city on another island etc. Except for the howitzer and planes, this is the best troop for me, it's even better than tanks.

Partroopers are great, particularly for island hopping, bombard the city with a vet battleship until no units are left, then send in the para.

I don't use helicopters very often, they dont move far enough and are to easy to take down, but they can be useful for recon.

Communism is great! If you trade trade trade, you can earn hefty amounts of gold - and science that almost keeps pace with representative gov't.

Anyway, back on topic:
Indeed, paratroopers must have a full movement point to jump from either a city or airbase.

Helicopters are very useful on large watery worlds. No need to wait for carriers to tote them around! In small groups they are very powerful - highly mobile and strong on the attack. Alone, a helicopter is not so great except as a front line scout/ship escort. Many players don't like them because they are relatively weak on defense. But used effectively, they can be an overwhelming force.
