Are helicopters ANY good? Not only do they seem useless to me (by the time you have helis you usually have airports all over anyways) but I can't get them to work. At first I was trying it with a Mech Infantry (which doesn't work), but then I wised up and tried it with a Paratrooper, and that doesn't work either? What units can be picked up by a heli, how do you do it, and how far can it bring them? Has anyone used them for good use?

Regular, leg, infantry works fine. This is another reason not to upgrade units too quickly. Those obsolite swordsmen, pikemen dropped into critical roads, railroads followed by pillaging and fortifying on strategic hills and mountains can do wonders as prep to an armor sweep.

Cutting railroads can greatly slow a civs response to an attack and doing the same to lines supplying rubber or iron, use clear map to find those resources in enemy territory, can keep them from producing tanks to cover thier losses.

Actually, I have found the best unit to air drop is the Marine. High attack strength and relatively good defender. Marines make AWESOME speed bumps.

I can't believe I wasn't able to use my carrier to transport helicopters. I had 1 infantry in each chopper ( the manual say the'll hold 2 but I could figure out how) and was ready to load my choppers on to the carrier a'la' USS Carl Vincens. While my transports were full of tanks, I was ready to chopper in my inf and cut suply lines and hold resource positions....too bad:cry:
