Just thought i would say hi to everyone. I cant believe that civilization 2 was made in 1996. I mean it jsut blows every modern strat game away IMHO. I am still at the warlord level, and i am trying to play a game by being peacefull but i havent managed it yet. Any tips?

If you haven't been lurking yet, you'll soon find out that you know even less than you thought you did.
But don't worry, you'll learn.

Oh... and one of the major keys to winning:

Trade, and lots of it.

It's hard to be purely peaceful, especially as you move up in difficulty. There's always some horde Coming Over The Hill, determined to cream your pouffant.

Make sure to go out to the main site (just change forums to www) and read the articles in the Civ2 War Academy. That's improved my performance incredibly, to the point where I'm winning at Prince. If I keep on doing so consistently, I'll move up to the next level.

Make sure you claim plenty of land early in the game by building outpost cities then filling the gaps in later This will help you to get the trade that Merc's talking about going.

Two weeks ago I saw a three game strategy pack at MicroCenter for $6.00 (one of the three games was civ2 MGE) -- picked up a couple -- one for a gift & one as backup.
