Me, being a person of curiousity, is wondering what kind of CD-protections Civ3 has.

If you don't want to/can't answer, understandable.

What about PTW+Conquests?

I knew I should have posted them now let me find my notes.

PTW - Securom 4.84.00.00017
C3C- Safedisc2 2.90.040

Thank you, now I can add this to my research paper ^_^

Wait: Is it Securom AND Safedisc2 on C3C, or is Securom removed on C3C?

Only one or the other, Safedisc on C3C. Note it may have changed via a patch. I remember one of the patch for either PTW or C3C switched to a new scheme.

Are you positive it's safedisc?

I want to make sure my info's accurate.

Yes I am sure. There are product list hosted on the net that have all the games and versions denoting the scheme used.

Not to mention the fact that if you want to create an image of the CD on your HD you must use the proper setting or it won't work whne you play it later.

There are tools that can be run to give you the protection device if any used. The biggest problems are the new blacklist and Safedisc 4.60.

How come the first thing I think of when you ask this question is illegal operations with the Civ disk?

Please excuese my paranoia.

Bluemofia, because that's the number one use of knowing the cd protection. x.x'

Vxma, 1 last question, then I'll be out of your hair: Where is that website? Useful for my report.

In case you're curious about my report, I'm doing a Comp Science report about Computer and Disc protection, such as why they do it, what kinds of protection they have, possible flaws to it, and so on. ^_^

I think they would be mad at me if I posted that site here. So let me say that if you search for a certain virtual device product and find that site, you we see a pinned reference to it.
