I just got BTS last week and am enjoying it after having vanilla for about 4months.I been lurking and watching posts(especially Madscientist's RPCs)I got the barb event first game I decided to play.I decided to start on noble since I played on Warload with vanilla and when I move up to noble it was kicking my butt. So why not start noble getting my butt kicked :)

Anyways I decided to start with the inca's to give me a heads up against the new AI. Quecha rushed Lincoln and hes gone. Its just me and Brennus on the continent and hes got gems glore(2-3 in his freakin capital) which will be my doom soon if I dont do something.I have been using spys to cause unhealthness and unhappyness in his capital so slow him down. All his cities are on hills and my swordsman, axeman, quechas wont crack him from what I have seen of the odd's indicator.I know I need to get seige weapons to take him but at the rate im teching which isnt bad(im on par with him so far) but I feel like on noble I should be running away.My capital was a production city and so was Washington so I have 2 commerce cities comming online soon but I havent figured out where to put a science city(lack of mulitple food sources.BTW military might is pretty close and im getting set up to pillage his 2 copper and 2 iron hes got.I feel like Madscientist's enemies in the RPC Asoka with the god tank he got only on the receiving end with the way the map worked.

settings
Standard map
noble,epic speed.
Everything on except cultural
sry no saves(at work)

*sidenote* I notice that the map generator isnt as nice as it was in vanilla.I dont know if its from me being on noble instead of warlord or if its been enhanced,

Don't worry about the intial odds. Overwhelming force will win eventually. You will loose units, but you will eventually weaken the defenders enough to start winning the battles.

On hills, culture bonuses notwithstanding, count on at least a 4 to 1 ratio of attackers to defenders.

Until you can tech catapults, this is the only way to take heavily defended cities.

Welcome to the Forums and thanks for watching the RPC games.

You are financial while brennus is Spir. You trait will eventually pass Brennus and his gems. As far as spy mission, they should be trashing the gems, not his cities. But consider making an allie here. He is one of those truxtworthy AIs if you share the same religion and run OR (which helps the industrious aspect of HC). Aim for the GL and win the Liberalism race, then if you want bear down with rifles.

Alternatively you can take his cities with overwhelming forces. USe the spies to support city revolt prior to attacking (which will nuetralize the Dun for 1 turn). His UU gets a defensive promotion, so axes are enough to prevent counter attack. Just make sure you finish the city off in 1 turn, otherwise that charismatic trait get's him better defenders REAL quick.
Good job taking out Lincoln.

Enjoy.

The above link to a guide really changed how I played the game. Whenever I start a game now I look for somebody to rush. If I really want to get off to a fast start, I'll try taking down a foe completely before the middle ages come around. That seems to be key to me, getting off to a fast start. Usually by the time the middle ages roll around you can tell who the major players are gonna be. Sounds like you've got the part down where you take somebody out quick and use their land, so I think you're off to a good start.

Usually once I have that first foe down, I try and see where I stand in the world and make plans for what type of victory I want.

I too have learned a lot from Madscientist's RPCs. Take a look at one of his savegame files if you can, it's really educational just to look at how he has his cities, civics, diplomacy, etc. all going. What you have to learn at higher levels is many times you will have to wind up attacking a foe that has a tech edge on you. If you try and wait until you have a military tech edge on the foe, you might be waiting the whole game. Sometimes just brute force in numbers is what it takes for a victory.

Well now i can open his saves.Part of the reason i bought BTS was so I can participate and learn from watching.
