For some reason, when you end the turn on my current turn, I declare war on Kathmandu, but I'm nowhere near them nor are they allies with any of my enemies. Can someone try this out and tell me what's going on? Or is this a bug?
The main possibility is that you had an active defense pact with another AI and some AI (that has Kathmandu as an ally) DOWed them, forcing you to DOW that AI (and the city state).
Same happens to me without apparent reason nor is there actual DoW from Katmandu.
A possible explanation is that either Harun or Boudicca allied it before Alex but those aren't mentioned anywhere. Seems like a big bug of inter-CS relations or a small bug in presentation.
Turn 150 you signed a defense pact with Nebuchadnezzar (can be checked in the deal log).
Nebuchadnezzar and Alex are at war with each other. When Alex allies Kathmandu, the City State automatically declares war on Babylon. It must be your defense pact with Babylon that makes you declare on Kathmandu.
The messages could be clearer, but this is probably it. No bug. You see here how dubious it is to sign defense pacts; they drag you into wars you didn't want!!!
I am spotting a bug though; when Canterbury finishes the harbour, the game assumes a trade route has been established, but there's ice in the way. If you don't mind, I'll take a screenshot from this game and make a seperate thread. Especially with Brave New World introducing actual cargo ships traversing these trade routes they better be real instead of blocked!
