Hey all,

After many years away I thought about installing Civ again, but couldn't find my CD's  so I brought the complete version.

Install went well, so I thought.

When I try to open the editor I have:

Civ3QEdit
ERROR: Could not open file for reading.

This error pops up when I click anything in the editor. None of the items are showing, its almost as if it can't find any of its files.

The game runs, although I haven't tested a game on it yet.

Has anyone else had this error?

If you uninstall and reinstall, do you get the error still?

Yup, re-installed no difference.

I have also just installed the game on my laptop, and it says that it can't find Civ Conquests.... Odd huh.

I am at a loss as to what to do with it.

I have searched here and found something about it dating back from 2004... Wonder why they haven't brought out a patch to fix it...

**Edit**
Just had a thought.
I have found my Conquests CD, I think I will put the CD in and try to repair its install, it may screw up the complete version but if I can get the Edit to work, it maybe worth it.

It worked!!!! woohooo!!!!

Put the CD in, it installed it.

On the first test the game ran using the complete version (nice) then when I clicked the editor (in the conquests listing not the complete) it loaded it up :)

The editor included in C3C vanilla is version 1.00. The editor included in Civ Complete is the patched version 1.03. In some circumstances editor 1.00 has still the better results (p.e. SGLs), for "multiplayer" version 1.03 is the better one.
