One of the small touches of the game that I love are the famous quotes that Leonard Nemoy recites after each tech advancement.

There is one that is eating at my brain that I can't quite remember, that comes after a military advancement. I searched high and low on google but don't remember enough of it to get a good match. It goes something like this:
"Losing warriors fight wars and hope for victory.... winning warriors...."

Can anyone help me out with this one??

Thanks TONS in advance!

"Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win."
- Sun Tzu, The Art of War

It's from Sun Tzu's Art of War. It can be translated a few different ways.

This site, http://academic.brooklyn.cuny.edu/core9/phalsall/texts/artofwar.html#Dispositions (third paragraph of that section), translates it like this:

"Thus, a victorious army always seeks battle after his plans indicate that victory is possible under them, whereas an army destined to defeat fights in the hope of winning but without any planning."

And that translation makes a lot more sense, and is much more useful, than the translation used in CivIV.

I had actually always heard that version. I agree that your version is more informative, but the civ version is bit more poetic though :)

Thy are great but I know one is wrong:

"People can have the Model T in any colour, so long as it's black"
Henry Ford

According to the great British panel game QI (Quite Interesting) there's no evidence to suggest Ford said this. Writer and motor enthusiast Jeremy Clarkson (who was a guest in this episode) was telling regular guest Alan Davies not to say this answer when the question was asked what colour the model T was, so he obviously knew already. Davies gave the obvious answer and as are the rules of the game, got a point forfeit (V funny).

Certainly one of the best touches to the game :D Gotta love his voice, my favourite is yet:

'Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you'll feed him for a lifetime'

Can't remember now who said it, old chinese proverb or something, it sure is good tho :)

my favs are
" i have one word to sayto you just one word plastics"
"you get more of what want with a kind word and a gun than with just a kind word"
the rifling one
[offtopic]" you cant run away for ever buts theres nothing worng with a good head start" meatloaf
