help for civ3 newbie on island

Wow. That's news to me, I don't recall any of mine coming with a defender, but I'd chalk that up to the fact that I've only had a handful of cities flip to me. I probably just don't remember the defenders. Thanks for the correction, gents.

When you get a culture flip, you get one of your best defender - that the city is entitled to build. If there is no road connections around, you may end up with a spearman when you are building infantry. (yeah not likely but possible)
