HELP: Have to play in compatibilty mode

the only way I can play civ 3 is in win 95/98/ME compatibility mode. If I dont the screen is flipping out, and all messed out. Now the problem is when I exit CIV3 I can not play it again until I restart my cpu(witch hangs when I try and reboot it bc of the compatibilty mode thingy)

I have win xp pro, geforce(23.11 drivers) enough ram etc...


Anyone expirience this at all and any help?
