I tried to play my first multiplayer game through LAN, but don't know how to save it... It seems only the host can save the game, but how to rejoin a saved game? Anyone can help me? Thx.

You're right - only a host can save the game and re-load it properly. You just save it in the regular single-player manner.

When it comes to load the game, set up a multiplayer server as per usual, but under game mode select load game, and the save file. Any players joining the LAN should be automatically assigned to the proper civ's so long as there multiplayer name is the same as before, otherwise you'll need to click on the numbers next to the names until it is sorted - and this can become a nightmare.

I've had no problems re-hosting saved games this way, any probs let me know.

Thank you very much for your reply, Maverick. I saved my game yesterday, and will try what you said next weekend, as I only play a couple of hours every weekend now.

I found that there are quite a few differences in multiplayer game. I don't know if I should choose simultinous mode or turn-based mode. I played turn-based yesterday, and set the speed to normal, but felt a bit tight in time when I have had about 10 cities. It could be a nightmare if I play a large map, and have 20-30 cities. I think I may try low speed next time, but is there any other way to slow down the turn speed?

Also, when I have finished a unit or building or have discovered a tech, there is no pop-up window, I couldn't find anything in preference to change this. Is there any option for this in a mulpiplayer game?

On the whole, I really enjoy my first expierence in multiplayer game. It's a great feeling to play with a friend on the same map.

Thank you again, Maverick.

I would recommend simultaneous simply because it gets each turn over quicker and you don't have to sit around waiting for the end of the turn for as long. Of course, there are disadvantages, such as the enemy moving units out of the way before you get a chance to attack.

The lack of pop-up are annoying, but look in preferences and there is an option for "Show Fewer Multiplayer Popups". Set this to off and you should get a few more, but still not as many as the single-player.

Tip - it's much more useful to use city governers and build queues in multiplayer.

I normally have the city governers set, and only change it when I want something specific done.

Thanks for the tips. I've never used city governers in single, but it looks they find their jobs in multiplayer:)
