Help in watching the AI (Debug mode?)

In Civ 3 I could watch the AI play against itself by turning on Debug mode and setting the map to be revealed. Is there such a feature in Civ 4 where I can see the entire map and also watch the AI play against itself?

I guess you could use control-w, which would reveal the world map and what every one was building, but in civ4 there is no actual debug mode.

First you have to enable cheat mode by setting:

cheatcode = chipotle

in the civilization4.ini file

then when in game, hit ~ key to open the console.

in the console, type:

Game.toggleDebugMode

(then exit the console)

See this thread for more console commands:

Cool, and how do you people find this stuff.

some one either at the developer releases it, or someone opens every file with a word/hex editor and looks for clues, not much fun if you ask me

I did try the ToggleDebug mode, but I still cannot watch what the AI does like I could in Civ 3. In Civ 3, the computer would automatically show you step by step what the AI did, whether it was to build a city or move units around, but in Civ 4, that's not the case, you are just shown your unit and when you skip your turn, the computer doesn't show you anything other than your unit, even though your turn was skipped and it just says "waiting for the other Civilizations turn" without being able to actually watch what the other Civs are doing as they are doing it like it was in Civ 3.

Once it's your turn again, you can scroll around the map and you find out that other AI Civs have already established Cities and have moved units about, but the computer did not show you this as it was happening like it did in Civ 3. Anyone know if there's a way around this? Is there a way for the computer to automatically go to each AI Civ and show me what they're doing as they are doing it? That was a fun part of Civ 3 and hope that it can also be done in Civ 4.

Have you got "show friendly moves" on in the game options? Have you checked the other debug mode commands by typing help in the console?

I added the information in the comment line of the .ini file. Cleaver yes?
Where it says "move along" lol!

I do have both show friendly and enemy moves on but yet nothing. The camera sits still wherever I put it and when the AI moves are all finished, the camera then jumps to the place where my units are. In Civ 3, the camera would jump to each AI as it made its move, but so far in Civ 4, nothing like that happens. Has anyone been successful in accomplishing this or is this just not possible with Civ 4 which would be a shame.

Just finished reading the Warlords Factsheet, and although it did mentioned "new features" added to the game, no mention of whether or not we would be able to "watch" AI vs AI feature. I still haven't been able to figure out a way to actually watch what the AI does step by step as I was able to do with Civ 3.

Is there no one that knows the answer? or at least let me know if it cannot be done in Civ 4

Mmm, falling behind on almost the end of the barrel is not good so in the best interest of humankind we present:

A BUMP :)

This is my last "BUMP". If there are no answers this time around, I'll just give up in frustration.

Nothing has been said on the subject, so I don't think that there will be, but much can be added (or has been added that we don't know about) in the time before summer.
