HELP ME PLEASE BIG v1.52 problem

ok here it is i was running v1.09 patch with a few problems......slugish etc..
downloaded and installed v1.52 patch and now all i'm getting is

FATAL_ERROR
Your system has run out of video memory. Please try reducing your video settings. File:\main\civilization4.bak\SDKs\gamebryo2_0\corelibs\NiDX9VBmanager.cpp,line:1018

then when i ok that i get:

Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library
RUNTIME ERROR!
Program:...Raxis games\sid Meier's civilization 4\civilization4.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please contact the support team for more information.

then when i ok that one the screen doesn't return to the size it should be or the desktop just locks up and i have to reset the pc. Please help me sort this one out my system spec is:

Athlon xp 3000+ 2.2GHz
1GB pc3200 400MHz ram
ATI Radeon 9600pro catalist v5:13 (latest) with 256mb onboard ram
sound blaster live 5.1 surround sound
windows xp home sp2 + updates
all drivers are updated and are the latest ones my dxdiag is attached for you to look see thanks

Try this in the ini file

; Allows some memory savings *** ALT-TAB WILL NO LONGER FUNCTION *** (0 stops the memsaver, 1 enables it. But set to 1 willload grahics card more. If you have graphics processing / capacity issues setit to 0 so that the card (or onboard graphics chip) has less load
MemSaver = 0

C:\Documents and Settings\New User\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\CivilizationIV.ini

If already at 0 try setting it to 1 - memsaver was the major change of V1.52

Thanks will give it a go first thing had enough of trying to fix civ 4 for one day

well it sort or works now the message is "civilization 4 has encounterd a problem and needs to close send your error report to" bla bla bla i have found a log of sorts in with the program file if this helps

could you please explain how to find this ini file, and what is the setting to turn off those movies?

ok go to start my documents click my games then click sid meiers civilization 4 then look for CivilizationIV configuration settings (it looks like a note pad with a cog on it) open that with notepad++ then find memsaver=0 and change to memsaver=1 or it might say memsaver=1 if thats the case change to memsaver=0 then save and exit and as for videos mate try the ingame options you should be able to do it there also turn ya graphic settings down

Okay i set memsaver to 0, and i was able to get to the next wonder, but then it did the same thing again.
How do you turn off the wonder movies? everyone says it is in the game, but i can't find it under options, is it located somewhere else?

i found out its in the same file just change the number like you did for memsaver. when you do it (like i have now) it also stops the long intro video too...or have i got a new problem????? lol
