Now, I have been lately been thinking about creating a modpack.
Currently, it's all on paper, but the modpack contains ideas that can be easily rewritten in the XML
folders.
The more important question is, that I have lately come up with an idea that the mod could do with
a few unit formation modifications - for example, a phalanx could include up to 100 soldiers, all arranged
in the phalanx formation.
But how can I do it? The formations XML file contains things that the modiki can provide no information
upon!
Any help is greatly appreciated!

My advice is don't. The Civ 4 engine really isn't designed to handle that many models at once. You'll end up crashing the game. I mean, yes, you can do it in theory. And it will work for a while. But try playing on a large enough map with stacks of doom everywhere and I have my doubts.

I exptected that this would not work, so i'll just say to myself "screw it".
But thanks for the advice.

The mechanics of formations can be added to the game without affecting how the graphics display. Without affecting how graphics work, formation tactics do not need to overload the game engine and can be represented by specific combat modifiers (against terrain or unit type).

Well it's your idea. We all have our own little projects here and there. My advice is to go ahead and try. You might like it.

How as clanky4 said you can see my formations which are for BTS, but really careful read what i was written in mod thread, because if you have weak or old PC you will have serious problem, formations demand lots of PC resources (CPU, RAM, GRAPHIC).
PPQ_Purple gives you good advice, better listen them !

Thanks for all your ideas, guys! But i will implement this only if i will have the oportunity.
