hi guys. i've recently moved up to Emperor difficulty and after around 8 or so games where i had to retire before 500 AD i think im close to being able to close out my first emperor victory, but i could use some help getting there.
playing random leader (Gilgamesh), fractal, standard map (temperate, normal sea level) and normal speed.
its 1878 and i've managed to force everyone on my continent into capitulation, that is, except for Churchill. we've been allies all game as we shared Confucianism which he discovered and he was my closest neighbour. he never really progressed ahead of me (at least not enough to be a threat) until around 1700 AD when he catapulted ahead in tech. I had been doing well in keeping up in tech (only Pericles was really ahead of me) but now im well behind Churchill.
when i last had an espionage lead on him, his army strength was at 1.6 ratio. this was several turns ago though, and I haven't yet scouted his stack now. here is the current tech situation:
my stack consists mostly of cavalry and a good amount of cannons, but from what i can see of Churchills territory so far, he has mostly infantry/paratroopers/machine guns and i've spotted a couple medium tanks and even a city defended by a mech infantry with city defender 3. im currently producing a bunch of infantry and will get artillery very soon so i can upgrade my cannons and also start producing anti-tanks.
heres a shot of the continent im on and churchill's territory:
i feel like this probably isnt a war i can win. at least not in an acceptable amount of time. Churchill already has his apollo program up and running and just finished his first spaceship part. What should be my plan for the rest of the game?
