[GS] Help me understand oil, iron, horses etc.

I build /buy an army to attack and i run low on resources, how can you have enough of these resources when it takes 1 per turn to maintain? If i have 5 tanks to atk and have 40 oil, I’m good for 8 turns????then im out? I do not like this mechanic. What am i missing.

How many oil wells do you have. Yes, tanks cost oil to maintain, so if you don't produce any, the oil runs out after 8 turns. This just means they can't heal. A way to reduce resource dependence is to research the civics that let you combine into armies
