Help me with Warlord

Use the lux slider, it is cost effective and all those shield would have let you make troops to take and hold land.

I agree about shields being better used for units, but how can the lux slider be effective? Maybe effective in a way that it costs nothing in terms of time, you just move it and it makes some people happy, but in my exp, lux slider is all but efficient. Core cities will benefit from it, and if my capital has the colossus, even a 10% in entertainment will make everyone happy, so much gold it produces. But for cities in the outskirts, where corruption is so high that most gold is lost, even an 80% entertainment won't suffice. And that's usually where I need more happiness, to have my people WLTK and reduce corruption. Luxuries, in the other hand, make everyone happy despite the corruption level, that's why I tryto have the most luxes I can. And some guy was surprised to see a player having 6 lux. What's wrong with it? Shouldn't they be as important as having territory or strategic resources? I'd like to know the opinions of more advanced players, I only play on monarch, but what would a... say, demigod player would do?

Those highly corrupt places are going to have as many specialist as they can feed. The slider will not effect on them, unless they have a market and I have 3 or more lux. I am aiming at core towns that I actually want to keep the citizens working.

I do not spend any time worrying about WLTKD. I leave that to people who play for score. I only want to keep from rioting. I also do not concern myself with corruption. Again I only care about productive places, the rest will make workers or bombardment units and be filled with specialist as soon as they can.

By the time I have 6 lux I own almost all the land as I get my lux by taking it. Yes I will strike a trade for a lux, if I can, but I mostly cannot.

First the AI will want more and more for a lux as you get bigger and have more lux. So it is too expensive. Second I am not going to give them more than 1 lux. Third I am not going to trade a tech that will help them.

Here I mean any tech after the AA and that nation is more or less even in tech with me. I will trade techs to weak sisters as they are ot a threat, presuming that tech is know to the stronger nations.

Nothing is more important than getting more land. The more I have, the less they have. The less they have the weaker they will be and the more land I can take away from them.

What is wrong with trying to get all those lux is the price you pay to get them. If you are getting them for a straight up lux, fine, but you are not. Well you could, if you played an OCC type game.

What I see is Regent players posting saves where they are in middle ages and stagnating. I often see they are trading lux to the top dog, who is just getting stronger and stronger from it. They are eating the nations around them and are getting too strong for that player to deal with.

The cost effectiveness only pertains to the core as that is where the empire gets stronger. I do not mean it is actually cheaper, I don't care. I mean I want to keep all my citizen working in those cities. I want shields.
