searched all 5 page and cant find anything or just dont understand sh*t.
anyways i just bought a civ1 game on ebay and all it has was 3 floppy disk and a tech supplement book. the book say imma need a Amiga computer but i have window 2000. so i searched and tried out Dosbox. i got the dosbox installed but im confused on how im going to install it. i dont know what to type or anything. could anyone help me? appreciate it alot thanks.

I don't think you can use an Amiga Civ game with Windows. Unless you have an Amiga emulator on your system, perhaps?

A quick google search for Windows 2000 amiga emulator led me to WinUAE. But I don't know how to use it, how to set it up, or what all is needed for it. But apparently it's a Windows port of the Unix Amiga Emulator.

i posted this on the sticky but it seem like no one really noticed so imma post here on my old thread

"hey guys, i just got the dos version of CIV from ebay and installed dosbox however i dont know how to install it. no instructions or nothing. when i start dosbox it has (z:\>) on it. i typed install and alot of other stuff but cant
install it. i have windows 2000. hope you could help. thanks"

If you got the DOS version you should not need DosBox to run it, although that might avoid some problems. Windows 2000 has a DOS-like mode. It is called Command Prompt. It should be in your Start menu somewhere, or you can launch it with the Run... item on the Start menu. In the Run... box type "cmd". You'll get a window with black background and light grey text, probably saying "C:\>_" or "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>_". Insert the floppy disk labelled Disk 1 into your floppy drive. At the prompt type "A:" and hit enter. This tells the computer to use the floppy drive for all commands and programs. Then you need to install Civ. The command is "install" or "installc" and it will start the installation process on your computer. When asked for paths and drives, select drive C: and use a simple path like C:\CIVDOS.

When the install is done you need to be in the right place to play it. In the command window issue these commands:
C:
cd \CIVDOS
CIV

If you used a path other than C:\CIVDOS then use the drive letter and path you chose for the commands I showed you.

It's really easy and I gave you step by step instructions.

thanks alot however when i type in CMD it shows that black screen but not just C:\ but instead "C:\Documents and Settings\goodboy.GOODBOY-FPIIR0K>" also the game i received is in a CD not in floppy disk. thanks alot again tho.

any other suggestion about my problem? cant find a way to install my CIV game which is a CD. typed install or installc in the CMD screen but they dont recognize the command
