I have posted this poll <location editted> in an attempt to get more inputs and more comments from the people who might otherwise not see the poll if it were just in the unit creation forum.

I would like to get some preference feedback and comments on how you would choose between three different camouflage options for sets of new mechanized warfare units.

The choices are shown from left to right in the image below at just about the scale they would appear in the CIV3 game:

From left to right the images are:

Light olive and sand colored camo
Medium green to sand camo
Darker greens and tans

Please vote for your overall preference in the poll and then provide any comments or observations you might have.

DO NOT SCROLL DOWN UNTIL AFTER YOU **** VOTE ****

Located below are more closeup images of the camo patterns but remember that you will not see these patterns at this scale in the CIV3 game.

Thanks in advance for your interest and input,

Hmmmmmmmmm.. i think we need Artic or deep forest camo.

light one is best ( I like to make mine too dark to see but thats cos I am difficult) I think most people expect modern warfare to take place in urban or desert situations (cos every one has seen footage of gulf war).

I am sorry, but just as in movies, it is better not to use camouflage on game pieces because it would detract from unit identification.

Did the company get their grey cloaks from the Elves in Lothlorien in the LOTR movie? Oh, Nooo, that would make them difficult to see and identify!

Scrap! I voted for the light olive/sand without noting the "no camo" option at the end!

Thanks to all who have voted so far and provided input.

It would still be nice to have more input, so please refer to this thread in other postings and encourage people to vote.

I like the last one b/c it really will act like camo in jungles. May be useless agianst the AI, but could pose a nice lil challange for players.

I'd personally preferr the idea of this particular unit having the light cammo pattern- although I would love to see this unit in different variations:

Unarmed: No cammo! (no turret, but more building mountings- a fast terraformer)

Heavily Armed: Medium cammo (larger Turret, i.e MG etc - a well armoured but slow terraformer)

Anyhow, I hope to see variations of this brilliant unit (just think about what a nice amphibious tank it would make, ... apc, mortar carrier, etc.... *****

Yes W.I.N.T.E.R. we are talking about a whole package of units here with special abilities for each unit.

Here is the current working list that I have already outlined for civilopedia entries:

LAPT (Light Armored Personnel Transport)
LAMT (Light Armored Missile/Mine Transport)
FAC/FAB (Forward Air Controller/Forward Air Base)
FADGT (Forward Air Defense Gun Track)
MCE (Mobile Combat Engineer)
HAMI (Heavy Armored Mechanized Infantry)
HATD (Heavy Armored Tank Destroyer) nicknamed “Night Stalker”
ACR (Armored Cavalry Reconnaissance Vehicle)

Deployable Radar Tower
Radar Buoy
Blockading Naval Minefield
Tomahawk
Tomahawk XR

The unit you see pictured in the Camo samples is the MCE without any special posing or animation effects.

One thing I have not yet been able to reconcile for certain, is how to ethically try and cover at least a minimal portion of the software costs that goes into building these units. This is not just a trivial cut and paste process like CIV2.

I am using a number of design software resources that add up to costing about $800US, so I have not yet reconciled my mind to just "giving away' the whole package. It tackes about 8 to 10 hours to build a good wire frame model and then can still take several hours to output each animation file for each unit/camo/action combination. Lotssssssssssssssssssss of work here.

I'm sure most people would have no problem paying for specific unit requests, especially if they are of very good quality. Using PayPal or some other way would probablyl work out well.

I can't really see people wanting to pay, however, for just some unit you decided to make. It's cool and all, but. . .

Well, we'll see.

Good work by the way. :goodjob:

Coming down to the last few days of the Camouflage opinion poll so I wanted to encourage people to urge their contacts to vote for the preferred camo patterns.
