well, to set up the scenario for y'all,

I'm currently playing as the Aztecs, on a standard size map, on Warlord Difficulty, doing great, have a burgeoning empire at my command, won a lot of wars, discovered a lot of technologies, traded a lot of stuff. Aside from the game stuff, i have NEVER encountered any of the infamous bugs, viruses, crashes, whatever you want to call them, at any time, except for the lag which comes from using huge maps and what have you.
The problem is that just a few turns ago, suddenly two of my cities, Tenochtitlan and Texococo, i believe, which were formerly size 12, and 14 respectively, allovasudden shrink instantly to size 1. I have utterly no idea why, but they were both encountering mild famine prior to this incident. But i've had famine before, and this has never happened.

To make things worse, whenever i try to click on a square rich in food resources so as to start the city on its growing path, The square ceases to be worked on whenever i end my turn(   )

I'm tempted to use worldbuilder to restore my cities to their former heydays, but i would feel more machiavellian than i would like

please help me. :wallbash:

Squirt peanut butter into your power supply fan. It won't solve your problem, but your dog will probably be amused. ;)

oh and while i'm at it, yeah, i'm the new kid on the block on CFC. hehehe. been a lurker for a bit, but yeah i'm here.

HELP!

Go the the /customassests/saves/, select all, and hit ctrl+del, then click ok. Re-start civ, then click "New Game" and click "Play Now." Voila, problem solved!

The sarcasm is flattering.

Perhaps you're farmers are on strike? They don't like that slavery civic, do they?

well, i have emancipation, there is no unhappiness, save for marginal occurrances, and there is satisfactory health in all my cities.

I dunno, it just seems weird having a city shrink from a 14 to a 1 over the course of a turn or so.

If the city doesn't make any food, that can happen.I had a nuclear meltdown, and my city dropped from 28 to 19 in one turn, b/c there was only 19 food harvested. Perhaps the bug made 1 food harvested?

Either way, I'd say restart and see if it reoccurs.

eh, i'm not exactly willing to restart this great game i have going, so i'll just use worldbuilder, but i will take note if it happens again.

by the way, i did have ample food within my cities, almost every square was a farm.

Some screenshots here would be useful.
Also, when did this occur? After a certain tech or building a wonder etc...
Do you have the lastest patch? 1.09 is out now
Please give us more details to get more help

Even with massive hunger I thought only one pop point could be lost per turn.
In any case I would guess a bug.
I don't know of any rules that could do that.
Unless there is some weird thing you have only in those cities.

The only thing I can think of is perhaps nuclear weapons. Altough I haven't used them before, so I don't know their effects, but I know they pollute the tiles and make them unworkable.

It is very likely a bug. There was another poster who also had one of cities shrinking to size one all of a sudden without any logical explanation.

yes the only possible bug-free explanation would be ICBMs. Did you check the combat log ?

i've seen half a dozen posts about this phenomenon, it's definately a bug.

Let me guess. You had Mercantilism and switched the civic. Look at the specialists in both cities, they are the ones who starve them. I had this once and also could not find the reason for the long time.

Yeah I think too, only reason I can think of in gaming terms unless this is some bugin new patch.

So this is because it sets all the citizens to be specialists, and then because there's no food coming in, you end the turn, everybody starves?
