I have a computer but under device manager some things aren't working.
The link to the screenshot is here
By the way, it's Windows 98

When I click on one of the 4 with the question marks, and then click properties, and go to the driver tab, it says "No driver files are required or have been loaded for this device. To update the driver files for this device, click 'update driver'."
I can't do Windows Update, because I don't have ethernet capabilities. How can I find the drivers I need without ethernet abilities, because I have dsl.

Also, under the properties tab in the display settings, I can't set my monitor to more than 16 colors. How can I fix this?

Please help! I want to get my computer (about a year old or 1 1/2 about $200 into it) that wasn't used, but started with Lindows Linux until I got different hard drive and put Win98 on it. Thanks!!

Have you installed the drivers that came with your mobo/computer?

Multimedia audio is probabaly your onboard soundcard, and the serial bus and other things are probably onboard on your Mobo as well.

So install your motherboard drivers.

Its certainly looking like stuff that comes with your motherboard. It may be worth checking the cd that came with it out.It would be more than likely that the needed drivers are on there. It may even auto install them if your lucky.

Well, I'll try to use that motherboard disc, but I think it will be Lindows stuff. Also, how do I find the company that makes those devices. Do I have to unscrew the case and look at the sound card? Like, what hardware should I take a look at for the video options and all the things I showed?

I used the motherboard disc to not much avail. For the 4 unknown devices I had in the above posot (1st post) the disc only game me supposedly USB drivers. I put in my 128 flash drive but it won't work because I can't find the driver for it. I went to Memorex online, but they only had drivers for friggin W98SE. I don't have the second edition, so that flash drive doesn't work. But it seems that the usb drives work (I tried one of the 2 in front) because I plugged in the usb optical mouse that I use for my laptop and it worked. So I think the usb drives work now, but none of the other stuff would be found or work on the motherboard disc.
Also, I got some audio thing to install, but only with errors. It ended up the audio driver thing only installed applications and no drivers when I uninstalled it.
Basically the motherboard disc only granted me access to USB drives successfully, which was the least of my problems...
Keep helping guys. Thanks! :goodjob: :)

Okay. I was thinking about just getting Windows XP? Do you think that would be smart even though it's $100? I mean would it have all the drivers installed unlike W98? Because I want to get this computer to work but haven't had much help so far...

usb2 drivers are impossible to find for windows 98 se.
other than that, you don't have driver for sound card, modem and ethernet card.
