I'm trying to make a world that's shaped like the plaent Earth. There's already a scenario that's like that, so can I simply use that?
If so, how?
Also, how can I set the era and place units?

As long as you give credit, it should not be a problem. What are you planning to do with it?

There are several "world maps" around if I remember correctly.

Frick, this thing is weird! It's not letting me place units. Any ideas?

yes... go to Creation and Customization. Those are the people who know how this all works.

to use other maps, you 'import' it from other games (its in the 'file' thing on the menu) to place units, you need to select a civ for the unit to belong to first

I'm not sure how skilled you are with the editor, but here are some general skills/tips to use it.

First, make sure if you're editing it, that you have these flags checked so you can edit it:

If you want to 'set the era' to start the game out in a specific era, you do that on the player set up screen (go to Scenario -> Scenario Properties, or Alt + Enter):

From there you can change the initial starting era of each Civ (but make sure you're doing it for the right player number)

To place units, you need to make sure you have the Civ selected which you want to add the unit for. This can either be done for player #s, or for specific Civs... make sure you're adding it for whichever the scenario is generally set for (I like to use the Civ Names as a default, it makes everything easier):

then you can click the unit button to place units, and select the unit you want:

i could've just asked you to explain it to me

well... I'm always happy to share my knowledge, and I always found it easiest when people used Screenshots to show me exactly what I was doing, but frankly, compared to what some of the other people on this site can do w/ their knowledge and expertise, I've only known the tip of the iceberg

there is a program in the utilities section, or something like that, that you can use that when you hit the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard (above the delete and insert key)

but as for me, I do it the long, annoying, old school way... by hitting Print screen, going to paint, pasting it on, editing it, saving it, and then uploading on photobucket
