The trouble is that if you're sufficiently awful, you might not get many chances to practice. Admittedly, that's tough to manage--I avoided that fate, at least.

unfortunately you're right. The sole purpose of Middle school or junior high is to replace the rites of passage of yore, and instead of living off the land for a couple of months and having to kill a slave with our own bare hands, we have to go through 4 years of peer pressure and acne. Yay!
