I was playing this month's GOTM, and things are going okay... I'm not in the situation that I'd like to be, but I think I still have a chance.

Then, suddenly I get a pediaicons.txt error. Something about the WINSPLASH or WONSPLASH or something. And the game crashes. What the hell just happened?

Contact me by email at gotm@civfanatics.net and include a description of what software version you are playing and on what OS and computer type.

We can fix whatever the problem is via that route.

HERE'S AN UPDATE to the problem solving process as we resolved it offline to avoid the risk of spoilers:

I have downloaded and tested your game and it appears to be working perfectly.

Your hints above that include "really weird things like LeaderName=Name and random technical code" tend to have me focus on if you installed the text files properly to support the game.

There is a folder in your game pack named "TEXT (follow instructions in readme)" and this folder includes three text files that give the game the ability to have functional diplomacy dialog, properly recognize unit icons and wonder splash graphics, and use some text features in the civilopedia.

I don't think you have these text files installed properly or at all.

Double check to see that the you have done this and the crash problem should be eliminated.
