What is the point of checking this feature when it doesnt even do anything. This is my 3rd game using this and there are still barely any wars. I expected to get massive amounts of wars when i checked this feature. The game is so boring when everyone just sits there and does nothing. Im the only one declaring war and it makes it so easy to win cuz i can just take everyone over and become 6x larger than any other AI. By the way im on Prince difficulty.

Well, in the game I was playing last night there were lots of wars happening. I was using a custom game speed I am working on, a huge map with 18 civs. I was at war for about 50% of the time after I had contact with other civs.

I did not have Agressive AI checked.

I think you may be to kind to you neighbours :)

I am playing without "Aggressive AI" on Prince Difficulty, and i barely have any leader being better than "Cautious" against me - they allways have something to complain about.

The occasional game of Civ III wouldn't boast many wars, but it was, generally speaking, a much more hostile environment than what I've seen in Civ IV. My only major complaint with Civ IV is the overly peaceful nature of the AI civs. The ancient and medieval eras, in particular, are extremely quiet in the games I've played -- thousands of years elapsing w/o a single war.

If you want more wars follow my advice. First, go onto worldbuilder there is a sign with people shaking hands. Click on it. Second, you will find a attitude bar where you can make Ai's like you more or less with just a click of a button. Third, if go scroll through the name list you can make even Ai's hate each other immensely.

How do you post smiley faces?

Play on a HUGE PANGEA map with aggressive AI's with 14 civs. You'll get more wars than you bargain for. I also find if you turn off barbarians on this particular map, the regular CIV AI's are even more aggressive. You'll also need to tweak your HUGE world map size, it's wayyyyy too small and should be at 80x60 or 100x80 for an optimum game. You'll find it in the ASSETS folder that contains the XML folder, and is the last text files in the GAME INFO folder. Open it with word or notepad and find the world size line, it's like 32x20 I believe or something very close to that and that's their idea of a HUGE map size. lol Change it to 80x60 and watch the CIVS roar at you. ;)

Play Prince or Monarchy for the most challenging fun and basically wargame you ever played.

It was the first thing I did was edit the EPIC game to accomodate my style of play. Game lasts 960 turns, HUGE PANGEA map 80x60 on Prince or Monarcy difficulty (using aggressive AI makes it even harder) and 14 civs. I've lost every game so far from being steamrolled by either India or Egypt.

As I stated in my review thread, the AI is very passive in this game, way too much so... Even on agressive setting, all that seems to affect is them being a total assh*** to you, not actually declaring more wars.

Turn up the difficulty level. AIs will attack all the time on Monarch and above.

Two of them jumped me two nights ago. I could hold off one but not two...I was dead by 450AD.

If you want war why not check allways war.... Or why not declare war on them? Seriously....

If you want them to fight each other then go into the world builder area I talked about earlier and then access another AI like Montezuma for example and then turn all of his sliders of diplomacy with other Ai to literally loathing and watch the fireworks afterwards.

I haven't played the game much, (I have to buy a better graphics card, Is radeon all in wonder 9800 pro good? sorry about the threadjaking) but, as far as i can read, it seems that it might be a bug on the aggressive AI box. It seems that it does the opposite as intended when it is checked.

Play4fun, Have you tried with the AI aggresive box unchecked on prince/ monarch levels?

Well then is it a big map? If the map is smaller they will have more to fight over. Close borders and resources :/ Also if its a bug then you should try agressive off. I play wityh it off, I dont see the AI fighting but thats cause they dotn want to fight eachother if I have the high score

To each his own, but that's not really an acceptable solution for me.

Fine with me, but it does work like almost all the time and takes only a few seconds to perform.

Add more Civs than the default number on any map size and you should get more wars. I'm playing standard/pangea with 10 Civs, and there have been wars on and off for most of the game.

If you want an aggressive AI, play Europe Universalis II. I once had a game where I got so many dishonorable points that every single AI in Europe and West Asia declared war on me all at once. It was crazy... I beat off my immediate neighbors, but then found troops coming from as far away as Khazak Khangate!
