Heroes of Might and Magic

I am going to buy a HOMM game soon, but I can't decide weather to get HOMM 3 with both expansions, or HOMM 5. Which one do you think is better?

I love all the Homm games, except V. I still play a fair amount of III. Complete has all the addons for II and tons of maps on the net.

I have played HoMM III with expansions for a while, but I have only tried the demo for HoMM V. Anyway, I'm sure you wont regret it if you get HoMM III (it's probably cheap now too)!

Thunderfall is a fan of the HoMM-series. Perhaps you can ask him what he thinks.

Why not V ? I think it's almost as good as III.

IV is the one that really sucked.

Anyway, for the OP. I think you should buy III complete(platinum?). Buy V a few months/years later when it will be complete version also with both addons at a smaller price.

Okay thanks for the suggestions, I played 3 at a friends house a long time ago, and than bought 4. I had fun with for a while with it, but then it got boring.

I think I probably will get 3, but any more suggestions are welcome.

I always liked the third best. And it will be cheap so even if you don't like, not much money lost.

That's what i thought at first too. I played 1-2 missions and thought that i'd finish the campaign and erase the thing because it sucks. Somewhere till the end of the campaign i realised how great it is. But, i don't know what i found that was great . And it has gotten only better eversince.

Yes, the game overall gives a really bad first impression. Almost as bad as Civ4. (but that's another story)
Maybe you'll give it another chance someday.

You should buy Heroes III Complete and then download the World of Gods expansion here: http://wakeofthegods.strategyplanet.gamespy.com/download.shtml

which is also called Heroes 3.5 because you can play with settings that make the game more or less as a mix between HOMM III and IV. It's like playing Heroes III that includes the cool stuff from the IV.

I have no idea how to play any of these games and have enver played them before, however, I'll give it a chance. I picked up an old copy of HOMMII complete with manual, glossy reference card, origional box, Cd in good condition, and a couple of registration/ad forms (surprised those hadn't been chucked in the garbage) for a mere $3.49 CAD at a thrift store.

I knew I'd find something good sooner or later, they also had Diablo and Star Craft a couple of weeks ago which disappeared after a week.
