Hexes -> Hex-Tiled Maps

Would you play a hex-tiled map?

do you think your idea works with maps with much more hexfields ?

e.g. a map with 120 instead of the 3 hexfields length ?
 
and civ 7 will have icositetrahedrons (:lol: I wonder how many won't have to look that one up!)

Also, has anyone suggested using a 12-pentagon map to create a spherical world outside of this topic? It looks like a good idea!
 
I understand what you are proposing but I don't think I would find the game play all that different from a standard torus from square tiles.

a icosatetrahedra is a polyhedra with 24 faces, rather than a trapezoid with 24 faces (which is what I was thinking of)! However, well done, you were very close!

I love the idea of playing on a real sphere... especially on larger maps :) it might be a little tight (on curvature) on smaller maps.
