So how do you guys like the CivIII site?

Hi Dan, thanks for visiting the CivFanatics forums!

The Civ3 preview site looks fantastic!! Many people (including myself) are greatly impressed by the animation of units!!!

Please post some screenshots soon...

I greatly enjoyed the site. I like the fact that you allowed us to save the shockwave animations of the units to shockmachine. Thanks,

I think the site is great. I like how the units attack, but just one question:
You guys only showed them running, walking, attacking, at rest, etc. facing south. What about East, West, and North? I'm just curious.

Hey Dan!

Thanks for dropping by Civfanatics! The Civ III site is great...and I am looking forward to seeing you add more info and screen shots to the site.

I've also wanted to add that I've been wanting to know whether there would be a Rules.txt file more similiar to Civ2Gold or ToT...

If you folks get a chance, it would be nice to know some of the tech specs for the game as well, such as what kind of computer should we expect to have for the game-- P1,P2, or even P3...?

I don't really care about requirements because you can upgrade your computers cheaply. For example, you can upgrade your computer to AMD 1 GHZ Athlon processor w/motherboard for less than $350!

Don't forget to add 50-65$ for 128Megs of PC-133 RAM <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif" border=0>

??? You guys are millionaires
My dad has all the bells and whistles in his computer, but mine's a slow p150. It costed 200 bucks 2 years ago just to upgrade from 16 Ram to 48!

farq! i wish i was american, it costs waaay too much for comps here in NZ, 200 bux for extra 64mg ram PC-133, 700 bux for the latest vid card. blah.... costs about 7gs for a atlon 1000ish, 128mg ram, top of the line vidcard and everything, good speakers, scanner, cdwritere, printer

You have no idea how expensive civ play equipment is here in denmark.. what you are talking about is peanuts...

good site by the way, dan..

That was a simple tradeoff, actually. It was either we kept it to one direction or I relinquished my sanity

Also the Shockwave animations started to get somewhat large, and we wanted them to be as accessible as possible.

Not sure if the rules.txt will stay a text file or if it will become a binary, but we are planning a suite of editors which should make it easier for folks to tweak the game settings. So one way or another, yes, you will be able to tweak, modify, or just trash all of the game settings.

I know this sounds like a cop-out, but we really haven't determined them yet. Obviously we want this game to be playable on as low a spec as possible so that nobody is forced to upgrade just to play the game, but we're too far out to have even basic ideas about that.

I will say that we have some real dinosaur (no pun intended) machines sitting around here and I've gotten the game to run just fine on them, so I doubt most folks have anything to worry about with respect to system specs.

cop-out, you didn't post any specs, even 'unofficial specs' <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/icons/icon13.gif" border=0>

Right, that's why I said "they haven't been determined yet"... If I gave you any kind of specs now, they would have absolutely *zero* relevance to the final product that you'd buy, so what would be the purpose?

When I have something official and actually useful to report, I'll let you know.
