High Council

Hey i think the elvis impersination isn't alll that bad.

But i second the opinion for the science advisor being the most annoying guy in the world. He should be banned from the game!

"I'm off to grease my abocus."

What I also find annoying is the military guy in the ancient time:

"Bring me more units oh noble leader, so that we may sheath our swords into the beating hearts of the ENEMY!"

"Give me better ships, your excellency, and watch the seas flow red, with BLOOD!"

He's too loud and obnoxious.

The trade guy in the modern times is cool:
"Let's do lunch sir!" *wink and the guns

Science guy:
"All the world maaaaarvel at our superior intellect!"
"Sire, the very cobblestones of our streets poccess more learning than we do. In truth......we suck."
"Your Einstein sir, I mean your E to the MC squared, like the Klux B double B microchip sir, we're number one in SCIEEEEEEEEENCE!

I wish I can just go over there and beat the living **** out of him.

The foreign minister is one hot mama, and the modern military advisor is a drunken hick.

Personally I'd take the Egyption emmissary over the foriegn diplomat any day.

I find the financial advisor a little too contrived in the modern era.

I think the ancient and medieval military advisor is the best thing since the wheel and only find him tiresome when in the modern era.

I've watched all the avi's off the CD and I've NEVER seen them insult each other in the game like they do in some of those AVI's ... its hilarious.

"been counter!"
"human calculator!"
"charlaton!"
"PAH!"
"<spit>"
"Plate head!"
"Oaf!"
"Fool!"

I must say that this has been one of the most enjoyable and humerous threads I have read <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif" border=0>

... and I'll tell you something else... that science advisor in the modern era is quite possibly the most annoying thing in history of recorded media.

Ok, I'll get to my point...
It bugs the living hell out of me when the advisors keep saying the same thing!
I get told that I need barracks by one guy and marketplaces by another,
I have 10 cities and I have built 9 marketplaces and 9 barracks for example...
So I check with them again and they are still whining about the same things!
If it were in real life, I would look at them with a blank face, not blinking at all, until there is a silence and it becomes uncomfortable for them to hold eye contact and then I would suddenly shout at the height of my voice:
<center>"TELL ME SOMETHING I DONT KNOW YOU D*CK HEAD"!!!</center>

Back (sort of) to topic: KEEP THE HIGH COUNCIL. Yeah, they're pretty useless, but how many of us really enjoyed them or even used them for our first few games?!? (I still check them occasionally) They really help set the mood for the game and helped to get us hooked in civ, right? Yeah, we've advanced beyond them now, and probably will do so in Civ III as well, but keep them in there!!

Even though I would love for the high council to be there (except the science advisor), I doubt it will in Civ3. It wasn't in TOT, so it might be an early indication.

TOT was just a spin off from CivII. In my opinion it was just intended to compliment CivII and the CivII gaming community and get a boost for a few more bucks without trying too hard or wasting too much time, effort and/or resources. They just new that to add it would only make the game more and more similar than than CivII, so to avoid the camparison, but at the same time not have to go through all the marigamorol of creating new advisor clips, they just cut them off.

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't have city advisors in CivIII

I always thought that TOT and SMAC were games developed to test ideas that would be used in CivIII, thats why i personally never played either of 'em.

Actually, i haven't, i can go buy those games for the same price as civ II now. Isn't it interesting how games that came out years after civII are now marked down to the same price.
