I was thinking of this too. I hardly move my arse over there. And I do regret it.
Another possible solution: Is it possible for each member to make his own 'forum'? Like this: the specific stapel forum would show all posts on OT, WH and Civ3 GD, mixed in 1 page, sorted by last post time per htread.....
I don't have any idea of the efoort this would take, if possible at all.
Actually I like the way it moves. For example, I posted a thread about the book "I, Claudius", first in OT, and then had it moved to the History forum. Because OT churns so fast, I didn't get very much response at all before it dropped off the top 10 or 20 threads. However, in the History forum, that thread will stay near the top for much longer, and has actually gotten quite a bit of response, even though many of the posters in History also post in OT...they would have missed it in OT.
A forum doesn't have to have a burn rate like OT to be a good forum.
People come, and people go. <shrugs> Lately, more people have arrived, than left.
My vision for History, is for a place where anybody interested in history can gather and discuss; not merely a place for 'good content people' to gather and discuss.
So long as you can keep it polite and civil, willing to learn and accept others' opinions, don't bash other people or nationalities, don't spam etc, you're always welcomed in History.
