A single story, no. A bunch of stories, yes. I hate the Hive. He will kill himself just to hurt you. If you fight him, you have to hit him so hard and so fast that he can not so any major attacks back (planet busters). But since he always has like 10 units per city, it is hard to smash him within a few rounds. All those darn wimpy units take time to kill.

Hmmm....am I detecting the formation of the AHC?? Anti-Hive Cult?

Yes, Yang is a *****, but no, he is rarely a major factor in my games unless he gets a big continent to himself on which to expand. Then he gets tough.

An entertaining thing to do is to give Miriam some cities that fringe on Hive Territory and watch them duke it out. The two "Aggressive' nations almost always destroy one another for my convinience in victory.

Good point when it belivers vs hive miariam usally wins. But like 80% of the time in my games he gets this huge contenit and hes on there w/ like someone like zack and so i hardley ever play a game where zack survives after 2200.Oh yeah u said you give cities to the ai i was wondering how often and how many because i do that alot after ive beatin a faction in to submisssion i give them back most of there cities so they will be able to do my dirty work.

ps 'bout the AHC what are you interested in joining or somthin

HAHAHAHAHA The Hive is great!!! Just play as the Hive and if you start on a large enough continent (even with other factions, as long as it's not an island) you're invincible! Against AI, anyway. I love playing Hive, commiting atrocities, being evil...
LONG LIVE THE HIVE!

Do you have a concious? You kill also those innocent people those people that had hopes and dreames like you those people...Sorry anyway you wouldnt get to far if you were playing aginst anybody else

In regards to 'giving' other tribes...d'oh, Factions, bases, I often give the University a substantial total so that I can fight and he can give me all of his research.

The Hive isn't usually too much of a factor in my games, though they can be annoying. I've never gotten into any protracted wars with Yang, just a skirmish here and there. I don't like it when he's close to my territory, but he usually leaves me alone. I did have an incident where Yang built a base right smack in the middle of my land, and we weren't even at war. I mind-probed the base and took it.

I didnt think you could do that with out it being considered an act of war. Thats how it is for humans anyway.

I usually win my multiplayer games when I LAN it up...of course I'm playing other newbies. (yes I consider myself a newbie, i've actually played very few games of SMAC) The poor people who choose wimp factions have no chance against the juggernaut of the HIVE!!!!

I personally consider the hive a faction without a strategy. With factions like the morgans, the uni, or even the gains you need to have a strategy and it is more of an art to play with them and use there strengths to your advantage. Maybe because i dont usually go for a conquest win that i dont use the more "brutal" factions. Sure it may be easier to win with a faction like that if your playing with people like yourself. But if you were playing mp vs me dont think it would be so easy. Often these factions are over-looked because some might think that they dont pack quite a "punch" but i ask you are you looking at the right "punch"? Yes i wrote this myself so dont go trying to steal my words.

Total Mind Control give your the chance of an untraceble capture (since obvious they will know who got, then it must be untraceble how) with no diplo effect if succesful). It cost most and has a lower chance than plain mind control. There is no reason the chosee toal mind control over regular mind control is you are already at war with the victem.

Taht you should of been a they. I didnt think they could build a base in your territory w/o it causeing a problem.

Yes I don't like the Hive either. That is a funny idea, let some factions trounce each other(mwahah).

I get annoyed when I start right next to him since it takes awhile to slay him out of the game. It is really annoying.

Believing Recon Rovers/Laser Squads can easily destroy early Hive defense units (with either Synthmetal or Plasma armor) behind their innate Perimeter Defenses. With only eleven, I entered four of their cities in the first century playing at a high difficulty level on a large map. Their bonus, however, is annoying; even as Hive a strive for the Citizens' Defense Force just to forestall the proliferation of Perimeter Defenses in new enemy cities.

From my viewpoint, playing against the Gaians after, say, 2250, is the toughest. I have to take into account their marauding Mind Worms, esp. Isles of the Deep, while lumberingly expanding.

The effects of the mind control options, by the way, are paralleled by the incite/subvert methods used in Civ II.

PS: In the beta version of the game, wasn't the Hive faction called the Labyrinth?

I really couldn't join the AHC myself. First of all I tend to ally with the Hive anytime I play offensively in Single Player, as long as you avoid "annoying" your precious ally the Hive combined with the military might of ( most often ) the Spartans or the Believers, or any other faction that has ( often through Social Engineering ) geared up for war.

I often play the Hive, if nothing else than for some change. I really have yet to find a single faction I am entirely comfortable with, as I can enjoy all the different styles the various factions offer you.

And since I admit to being a little to passive and politically minded most times I play I tend to let Yang grow too large often. As long as he does not end up duking it out with either of the other militant factions he tends to claim a large continent to himself, or ally with the other faction on the continent against someone else. And when left unchecked like that his large cities and powerful industry comes to it's full right, making him a formidable opponent.

Well, alien, are you ready to join the Hive Fan Club? Though the first order of business would be to come up with a better name than HFC...Perhaps the Hive Institue for Vituperating Enemies(H.I.V.E.)

You and your pathetic AHC better give up now spycatcher...The H.I.V.E. will sweep all before it, just as the Hive sweeps away all other factions on Alpha Centauri...You have no hope.
