I'm Trying to expand fast and with a settler factory, but what i do is only build a Granary and wait my capital's Grows and make some settlers i don't have idea how many turns i will have a settler.

How do I improve a settler Factory?

well basically when you are talking about settler factory you mean that you can spit out settlers every 4 turns like there is no tommorow. For this you need granary, 20 additional food that you can storage every 4 turns and 30 shields every 4 turns.

The next thing you must improve your knowledge on diffent terrain types and on how Despotism affects production of food and shields so that you wouldn't end up irrigating grassland or plains with wines on it

so for example your 4 size city must be able not only support it is population but to storage 5 additional food every turn so it could grow to the size of 5 in two turns and to size of 6 in next two turns. In this 4 turns your settler must be biult (costs 30 shields) and instead of 6 size city you have your 4 size city and a settler and so on...

It is impossible to achieve without some bonus food resourses in the radius of your city
for example wheat or cattle. Wines and game counts as bonus food resource too but are ineffective for example wines must be always on grassland and even when irrigated products 3 food and game at first must be cleared of forest to be irrigated so better leave it as it is. So search always for wheat and cattle around. If it possible irrigate them. Flood plains with wheat on it are best for growth but bad for production so you can end up without neccesary 30 shields for settler in 4 turns not talking about ocasional disease

if you want to know exactly when your settler is biult and if this city is gonna be 4 turn settler factory as I said you must improve your knowlegde on the game and to be aware that Despotism goverment in which we always start wastes 1 food, shield or commerce from every worked tile if it can produce more than two food or shield or commerce. for example irrigated grassland may produce 3 food but because of Despotism it is gonna be 2 (3-1) as it not irrigated at all. irrigated cattle on gassland could produce 5 food but it is gonna be 4. mined cattle on plains could produce 3 shields but it is gonna be 2 as if it not mined at all and so on.

Assuming that you have a forest, you need at least a two-tile combiation that gives you +5 food, and 6 shields at size 5, and 4 to food tiles.

BTW, I thought the "Hoe" in the title meant that you were confused. (Ho-eh)

I've always been somewhat perplexed when I read about building "settler factories". I've always found that after building 5-6 cities, the AI civs have taken all the other prime real estate, so there is little reason to build settlers after that.

Especially after you get factories. It's rare if ever that you can find any good city spots after you've gotten factories.

This is a joke.

Maybe you should take the not prime real estate too. Maybe you space your cities farther than us?
