Ok so I totally suck and am just getting into this game. I was so wxcited that I built airports in my cities ands a couple towers and airstrips and the game ended. WTH? It said it took 11 hours and 28 minutes and time was up. Where can I go to adjust this to make it go longer? Also where do I get airplanes from?

Either the Year 2050 passed while you were playing (the cutoff point for keeping score) Or you managed to achive a victory consition of some kind. You can continue to play even after you win though, there's nothing stoping you... Or is there?

:hmm: There's evil afoot, To the Civ-Mobile!

You can just continue after 2050 AD. But this is after the official end of the game (win or loss).

You get airplanes when:
-you have disovered flight
-you have connected oil to your empire

You now can build bombers and fighters. Later techs give you stronger airplanes...

It also sounds like you may have achieved a cultural victory. If you built libraries/temples/universities/cathedrals/wonders in all of your cities, you can get to 100,000 culture pretty quickly (consult your cultural advisor {F5} to see what your current culture is.) I used to get so frustrated by winning cultural victories (I'd be right in the middle of a war and a screen would pop up saying I had won) I would turn the cultural victory option off.

By default, you (or the AI!) can win the game in one of the following ways:

Destroy every other civilization (conquest victory)
Control at least 67% of the land area on the map (domination victory)
Get to 100,000 culture AND have at least twice as much as any other civ (cultural victory)
Get to 20,000 culture in one city (20k cultural victory)
Get elected Secretary-General of the UN (diplomatic victory)
Build all 10 parts of the spaceship and launch it (spaceship victory)

If you haven't achieved one of these victory conditions by 2050 (540 turns), the game will end and the player with the highest score wins.

Civ is a TBS game, so time plays no factor. In fact, I believe Aggie here was invloved in a game that lasted negative 300 something hours. :p

man you guys/girls if any, can really make alot of points one really simple question.
