hoover dam

I'll get the actual numbers for you.

Corrupt is low, have FP but had less impact
as only 3 cities from palace. Corruption is
running about 100-120 gold/turn.

All cities are in one continent.

What else would you like to know? While I am
getting some numbers I can get the others also.

I have been looking for a city without hydro plant after hoover, but since hoover has only been around a few turns, I haven't visited all cities yet. I think what happened before where there was not a hydro plant in every city it was because I had a solar plant already in place and solar was not replaced with hydro.

Oh I see. Duh! Wake up Muppet.

Of course. You already had power plants in one form or another in some cities.

Hmm.. it could have been phrased as a trick question to me and still would have been stumped: Hi I'm a newbie, how come when I build the Hoover Dam I only get a 13% increase in empire-wide production?:D

I think Hoover Dam is potentially the most important Wonder available on large maps.

I like factories to begin with, and the immediate kick in of hydro power allows me to either wage war in the modern age with remarkable production.

Pollution is far more a result of population in my games, though I do only build one coal plant, that being for the city I will use to build Hoover once I bee-line to Electronics.

The topic is Hoover Dam,but pollution not being a problem?

I´m not so sure, maybe not for the human player not due to production at least, build as many factories as you like, you will need the bonus production to keep up with the AI.This is were the problem lies,it´s not YOUR pollution that causes the enviroment to go beserk but the damned AI´s,just three empires left in my game,I traded territory maps, where the civilized and enviroment loving citizens of Dirkania recycle, sort their garbage out and live in clean country, but the Babylonians had about 25 fields worth of pollution,I even gave them ecology as a gift, netherless those fools create havoc to our enviroment, which is 60% Dirkania mind you,as if that wasn´t worse enough I see them cleaning mountain tiles with two workers.. GRRR

EDIT:Come to think of it,maybe the AI expects me to win,and thus wants to destroy te planet deliberately!!!

Hoover is a good boost. However, Coal plants aren't that bad. I agree with Bill_in_PDX & Ordep. Coal Plants don't add as much pollution as much as population. I'd say, if you can't build Hoover, build coal. I've gone a few games where I just don't have the city for it (no rivers by a good city or it's doing other things). Even if you do get Hoover, a couple coals built quickly pay for themselves and temporarily boost your productivity. Thankfully, Hoover comes at a time when few other GWs are available & so is a bit easier to plan for.

Normally, a plant cannot be built without a factory because the factory is a prerequisite of all plants. If you build a factory and plant you can later sell off the factory independently of the plant. Other improvements that have dependencies will still function when their "parent" is removed from the city (temple/cathedral, for example). With the Hoover Dam wonder, a plant is put into every city. There is nothing in the bic file that would prevent the plant from increasing production immediately, without a factory.
Okay, I've just tested these and discovered that my hypothesis was totally and completely wrong. It is possible to have "higher level" buildings in a city without their prerequisite buildings (as in the case of Hoover or having an improvement sold or destroyed) but the improvement does not function unless the prerequisite building is in the city.

1. Hydro are in each city whether by water or not.

2. increase after hoover is about 15%.
