Hostile AI

Something in the new patch is bugging me so I thought i'd ask. Is it just me or are the AI's extremely hostile now? After i put in the patch, the only reactions i got were annoyed and furious. What is with that? The game I played before the patch, everyone was fine. Is hostile AI preferable to most? It seems the AI was more hostile in the Civ2 Gold than classic. Why is this? Is there anyone else out there who likes to be friends with the AI civs?

I haven't noticed any change.

One thing that a lot of you probably aren't doing to making ROPs with other civs - probably in an attempt to slow ICS. Well, that tactic doesn't work. The AI is going to send settler stacks into your civ whether you have a ROP agreement or not. So make an ROP with just about every civ you can, they're less likely to attack you and they will like you a bit more; relations with that civ will be more stable. Note, however, that you WILL get sneak attacked a few times.

I do see the AI annoyed all the time and I went back to 1.16 (my GF still hasn`t patched over it) and checked.

Found: 1.16 on Chieftain: AI is usually cautious to polite on first meeting
1.21: AI is usually pissed off

1.16: AI send settlers, I ask to leave, they do - AI gets 1 degree worse at most

1.21: same scenario gets more war declarations and the AI often goes from polite straigt to furious

I posted a thread about the AI agression and the answers made me feel the AI is too agressive, especially on lower levels. How are newbie supposed to get into the game? via Chieftain? NO way!

I have to agree on this. With 1.16 I usually had good relations with most civs at the start of the game. After some warfare my enemies were of course furious and the rest either annoyed or polite, depending on if I had trade agreeements with them or not. With 1.21 everyone is usually either annoyed or furious right from the start, even before any wars have taken place. Getting better relations than annoyed is very hard.
