HOT 5 - Who needs IRON !

Got it--twenty turns aye.

Settler from hut! [dance]

That is great news--though I sometimes get mixed feelings with this--since it can be like dropping the difficulty a half or a whole level. Only time will tell.

This should really boost our growth curve--all the more reason that we should try to do some heavy military action with horse/impi pairs.

I should get to this either this afternoon or this evening.

We have almost won the game!

Yeah all Bam-Bam has to do is press the space bar and we will by domination.

No NOT really! What we do need is a few more cities and a couple baracks to get some vet chariots or horses to go will a few impis to hit the Aztecs early and claim the Ivory. Carthage and India will be a challange. Each UU is strong and they are far away through a jungle no less making our fast units a bit less useful.

Looks like all the tough UU's are around, Jumbos (if we let them last that long :hammer:), Mercs., and ofcourse mWs. The little green men don't scare me as much as the others. The AI is not as effective with them as in Sirps Open game.

It is rough start but once the jungle is cleared we will be rockin.

Pre-turn 3000 BC

No changes needed.

2950 BC (1)

2900 BC (2)

Lux to 30%.

2850 BC (3)

I buy one of two workers Carthage will offer for WC +43g.

2800 BC (4)

Ulundi worker -> rax.

2750 BC (5)

:sleep:

IT: Iros building oracle

2710 BC (6)

2670 BC (7)

Zimbabwe granery -> settler.

2630 BC (8)

Lux to 40% with Zimbabwe @ 5.

2590 BC (9)

2550 BC (10)

Zimbabwe settler -> rax. Lux back to 20%.

2510 BC (11)

2470 BC (12)

2430 BC (13)

Zimbabwe rax -> settler

2390 BC (14)

Ulundi rax -> impi. Bapedi founded north of zimbabwe--two tiles SE of plainscow Temple ordered to get cow. Hut gives maps :rolleyes: Lux to 40% to keep Zimb happy. Of course the Iros learn the wheel :rolleyes:

2350 BC (15)

2310 BC (16)

Zimbabwe settler -> impi. furs online--lux to 0%

2270 BC (17)

Lux to 10% with Zimbabwe growth.

2230 BC (18)

Turn slider down for extra gold--wheel due in 1.

2190 BC (19)

Learn wheel, set our sights on HBR, due in 17. Next leader can slow this down, but I would like to get our horsemen going and take it to the Iros before they learn this. Zimbabwe impi -> impi. Lux to 0%. Everyone has IW :lol:, and Hannibal wants way too much for masonry. We can get IW for alphabet and wheel, and get 25g out of Monte, then could sell IW back to Iros for some cash. I am going to leave this to the next leader.

2150 BC (20)

Lux to 10% with Zimbabwe growth. Settler is on goto to red dot. Blue dot is my recommendation for next city to get horses. We are going to need lots of workers to get this city strong, but it has lots of hills and lots of floodplains. Zimbabwe should pop a settler after this impi completes. I think we should try to take it to the Iroquois asap with impi/horse pairs. Try to give them the :hammer: before MWs start running around. They have been sending lots of warriors south for barb hunting. We can either put our FP in the Iro core, or in the middle of the jungle south of Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe can do a worker every other turn (at least) if you want to. We should probably pop a couple of workers in between settlers. With the red dot, we will be caught up to the iros with 4 cities, everyone else has less. Gandhi now has the wheel. On second thought, we may want to take out monte, knowing he doesn't have a strong UU. Still would be nice to quickly dispatch the iros before they get scores of MWs.

I did not build as much military as I would have liked, but pushed to get more settling.

Good luck to Rowain. Ten turns from here, right Hotrod?

I think Bam is correct and Iroquios are a greater threat than Monty right now. With 4 cities he will be sending MW soon enough. I think he must have popped a settler too. Besides which I like his green territory a bit more than Monties. I would like to hold out until a gov't change (Think Monarchy may be a good choice as this may become an occillating war) before we use our impis but beggers can't be choosers.

Good luck Rowain!

Thanks for the patience :)

2150BC: Alpha + Wheel to Monty for IW + 20 gold; and Wheel + 10 gold to Hannibal for 1 Worker; We are down Masonry on Hannibal but par with all others;

2110BC: GH gives us 25 gold and the Setler moves his GoTo-move

2070BC Hlobane founded; Z starts Settler;

2030BC another GH another 25 gold; Lux to 20%

IT: Aztecs settle near the Horses in the East;

1950BC: a third GH a third time +25 gold;

1910BC: ouch 2 of our Scouts end their turn next to a Barb;

IT Hiawatha demands 24 gold. As much I dislike it but I cave;

1870BC: IT: Now Hannibal demands 22 gold;

1750BC end of Rowain’s reign

Notes for the next Leader:

I planned the western Settler to settle 1 tile West from its current point; and the Settler east to settle 1 tile South.
Lux is now 0% but Z will grow next turn so beware;

Tech: HBR is due in 3; We are down Masonry on Iros, Carthage and Aztecs.

Good Luck

Bummer about the barbs and the demands having gold is great if you can use it no fun when they take it.

I agree on paying up we aren't ready for war yet :satan: .

One question though was IW a priority or the gold ;) :lol:

We don't have any iron visible on the map correct?? :scan:

PS: Rowain are you going to join Bam-Bam I in attempting Predator GOTM???

Got it! Will play tomorrow.

Any tips on what we want to research next? Are we heading straight for monarchy, try a 40 turn gambit on math or go for the great library?

I've looked at the map and couldn't spot any iron! :crazyeye:
Maybe a source will popup after mining some hills? Now that would be a neat feature!

Banzai!
edit: @Hotrod. Would you please edit your post and change my name? You have made a very nasty typo! :rolleyes:

Pointed stick! Pointed stick!

I would hesitate to do anything but min sci for math--we don't know myst, right? So math tends to be one of the later techs the AIs go for, IIRC. We want to let the AI get some more techs and then bash them for their cities and techs with impi/horse pairs. I prefer taking out the Iros--since I would like to take them out pre-MWs, but if the Aztecs look like they are weak, let's put them out of their misery. :hammer:

Not very likly since two Epic come up and I'll try to play them.
which will take enough of my civ-time.

But good Luck :)

Rowain

We do know Mysticism (3700 BC (6): Builds a scout starts another. Hut gives us Mysticism).

I'll start playing in about 7 hours and will go for min science on Math.

Very understandable Rowain--I am just realizing the magnitude of the Civ feasting going on--two epics opening, GOTM, and 5 SGs. Yipes. Hopefully a couple of the SGs wind down soon....

0) 1750 BC
All looks well. No changes.

IT.
India orders our scout to leave their territory. Sure!

1) 1725 BC
Settlers move into possition.
Raise lux tax to 10%.
Science cannot be dropped. Horseback riding in 2.

2) 1700 BC
Zimbabwe builds Impi and starts a settler.
Hlobane builds Impi and starts a much needed worker.
Isandhlwana founded to claim the horses. The source is not connected yet.
Intombe founded.

Aztec has horseback riding :(. One turn before we got it!!
But wait.. The others do not have it, but have a lot of cash at hand.
Buy Horseback from the Aztec for 11 gold.
Horseback to Iroquois (!!) for Masonry and 15 gold. They have 49 gold so they could buy it from the Aztec or Carthage anyway.
Horseback to Carthage for 55 gold.
India is almost broke and is now horseback and masonry behind.

Start researching Math at 10%.

3) 1675 BC
Lux to 20% as Zimbabwe grows again.

IT. Aztec start the Oracle.

4) 1650 BC
Nothing!

5) 1625 BC
Zimbabwe grows to size 7, builds a settlers and is now back to size 5. It starts a worker.
Lux back to 10%.
Bapedi is connected to our road network.

6) 1600 BC
Hlobane builds a worker.

7) 1575 BC
Zimbabwe grows to size 6 again, but builds a worker and is back to size 5 :D
Iroquois have a monopoly on Writing!

8) 1550 BC
No changes at the diplo front. Inda still lacks horseback and masonry and has only 8 gold!

9) 1525 BC
Bapedi builds temple and starts a worker.
Lux to 20% as Zimbabwe grows to size 6 again.

Whoa! India just got Horseback, masonry and writing and is completely broke! They must have researched Writing and sold it to the Aztec as they have now writing too.
Carthage does not have writing, but has nothing we don't have and has only 2 gold.
We can buy Writing for 200 gold from India, but without a brokering opportunity I pass.

10) 1500 BC
Zimbabwe builds settler and starts Impi.
Lux to 10%.
An Aztec Settler/Jag pair arrives at the furs north of Bapedi.

For our next leader:
There is an unmoved settler in Zimbabwe and another south of Ulundi.
There are 2 workers at Bapedi building a road to Isand to connect the horses.
I think we should focus on building more units now.
