Decided to play a Hot Seat game with my 8 year old son today, he loves Civ 3 but struggles so I thought I could help him along. Shortly into the game America declares war on me. My second largest city, York, has 3 warriors with one American Archer near it, turn passes to my son then back to me only to find that York is now an American city, no warning and not a culture switch as no American cities/borders nearby. A few turns later and my capital, London, which has 2 spearmen and 1 warrior sudenly becomes an American city even though only 1 American archer had been within attacking distance, again it just seemed to change hands with no battle occuring. At this point I suggested that we should stop playing the game (I didn't want my son to witness the Civ 3 box sailing through the air, window-bound).
Anyone shed some light on this? Conquests is fully patched up so I can't see how it can be a bug?
