I posted this on multiplayer section in 2k forum, but seems like nobody knows the answer.

My friend and I am currently playing hotseat...man, it's a great game! Anyway, we have a problem trading. We can't trade with each other, but we can trade with other AI...Is this normal? We are in separate teams, but we would figure we can still able to open trade? Now my friend can't pass me or I can't pass him unless we declare war on each other. Any help will be appreciated!

Hmm... I'm not sure why you are having a problem. I've played hotseat a few times since the patch and the trading has worked. Maybe you are dismissing the trade or something by accident?

Here's how you do it anyway. Player A opens up the diplomacy panel, clicks on player B's name and a window will open up with some text displaying the usual trading options in the upper right (with the default UI). You organize the deal here (in your case open borders) and hit propose. End you turn.

On player B's turn, a yellow orb should fall with a popup that says something like "Deal Proposed". If you click on it, the deal window should open up again in the upper right with an accept button. Click on it and voila.

Good luck :) Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. We still couldn't trade with each other, so we tried reinstalling the game....and it works now! :)

Another question will be, we are playing prince level with large earth map right now, but seems taking AI land is just too easy. One of my other friend is going to join us soon, so it will be 3 human players. If he joins us, it will be even easier to beat the AI right? Will making deity level will give us a challenge or is this game really meant for human vs human in multiplayer?

Also, I wish we could add more AI in hotseat or MP like in single player...seems too few...Is there any mod you guys recommend to add more AI units in hotseat or MP?

You'll definitely find the AI much more challenging on harder difficulties. It doesn't get a lot smarter at war, but it does get a lot more units and tends to get walls and other defensive structures up faster. It takes a dedicated effort to topple them. Although if 3 people gang up on them it might not :p.

I don't know much about available mods so I can't help too much there. The AI tends to play best on Pangaea style maps (they don't deal with water well) so that might increase the challenge too.

In higher difficulty, will AI be more aggressive than easier difficulty? Will maxing out CS be harder by any chance?

more agressive, definitely. CS... sometimes... it depends on how you are playing against but in general yes. There are ways to take advantage of the AI's extra gold on these levels to get more CS allys yourself but it requires practice and the right civs.

When I team up computers, meaning all the AI to be in one team, do they share research? If this is true, might be pretty hard against all the AI versus us.

Teams are odd. Yes they do share research but not policies nor wonder benefits or the like. Teams really change the pacing of things because the tech costs do not get multiplied by the number of team members exactly. I beleive it is 50%.

So for example if there are 2 people in a team, tech costs are 150% of normal tech. 3? costs are 200%. The AIs tend to research the same thing at the same time (just ally 1 with you in a team and watch what they do) so tech speed is generally greater. For that reason alone I don't like teams because the SP experience does not translate to MP.
