How About a Discworld Scenario?

@slozenger - all those ideas sound great! Lady Sybil was the name of the dragon trainer. For unit requests:
dwarfs - aaglo has made quite a few
vampires - embryodead did 2 different vampires
witch doctor - Civarmy did a witch doctor that might work
trolls - aaglo's new orcs might work or his stone elemental
thieves - how bout the spy unit in Conquests

I'm glad this thread is moving again!

There are plenty of dwarves floating around and there is a vampire unit in the WH mod.

EDIT: Hey Wolfhart, would the Wiccan graphic in Mystara fit for a voodoo witch doctor? If so I'll upload it to here, since I have no real idea where it came from.
 
well we can give it a go!

we seem to have most things.. we just need someone who knows how to edit all these things into the game.. ive tried modding but didnt get futher than chaning a few city names.. could anyone be interested in comiling all this?
 
I can add units to the mod and building graphics. If someone could draw up a tech tree I could do that too. I suck at civilopedia text though, so someone else would have to do that.
If no one objects, I'll get a finished list of units together that we think should go in the mod and once everyone agrees (or almost everyone :) ) I'll get to work.

Talking about tech tree.. seen as im not to good on modding etc it would be easier if we concentrate on looking at what can be left as it is, or simply swapped for "discworld" syle units.

Il google about seeing if i can get suitable texts for civlopedia...

If you need someone to adjust the tech arrows after you have the tree set up and the mod, I'll volounteer, unless someone else does. I've been getting a lot of practice.

"Transylvania" was úberwald I believe. I have to say that coming a cross this was a huge piece of luck mind. I'm actually appearing in the stage version of "The Fith Elephant" this weekend and was just doing my usual browsing to see this as W.I.P. I can't help a lot but will be very interested in seeing how this turns out.

I don't think I can be of any help, but I do want to offer encouragement. This is a great idea.

I've always wanted to lead Uberwald on a war of conquest... pointless or not. (And look at vampire and werewolf teeth... pointless indeed!)

Okay, here's a copy of my reply to Wolfharts pm, in case anyone else was thinking of pming me. :)

Well, I stopped working on it, because I didn't think there were that many people interested in it. Also, because I can only do the units and tribes, and it didn't seem like there was going to be anyone to do the rest of the mod so it seemed pointless to just put in units and civs.

Edit: Only one person told me they agreed with these unit choices, so if anyone out there is following this thread, please tell me what you think of these suggestions. (post 49)

Argh, I didn't tell you..?! Of course I agree with most of your excellent suggestions. My comments:

Ankh-morpork:
City Watch- even though I still think his groinal movements in the attack flic are a bit… suggestive, I prefer Embryodead’s humping pikeman to Utahjazz7’s plomée as a city watch. The crossbow variant are a bonus and should be used.
Assassin (all civs?)- well, that depends. Assassin should be created by the Assassin’s Guild, and since other nations send their young men to be trained at the Guild in Ankh-Morpork they shouldn’t have as many assassins, or perhaps none? If assassins are to be buildable it’s easier: Ankh-Morpork has better or cheaper assassins than other civs.

Lancre:
Witch- I agree with using CamJH’s Wise One, and I also think we can use Aaglo’s Wood Elf Witch as a representative of younger witches (Magrat, Diamanda & Co in “Lords and Ladies”)
Add dwarves and trolls since Copperhead Mountain on the edge of Lancre is inhabited by those.

Sto Lat:
Rider- should they really have an asian style rider? The petty kingdoms of the Sto Plains are the closest neighbours of Ankh-Morpork and are decidedly western in their character IMHO.

Elephant Rider – I can’t remember if Klatch uses war elephants, but they do use camels.

and Klatchian Foreign Legionary - CamJH's Medieval Indian Swordsman?

Uberwald:
Beside the vampires and werewolves (and ordinary humans), there’s also trolls and a large population of dwarves here (the dwarves of the Discworld are of two subgroups: the Uberwald dwarves and the Copperhead dwarves, and dwarves of both these groups have emigrated to Ankh-Morpork)
