How About a Discworld Scenario?

oh dear.. i think its dead... ;(

POLLY! POLLY! polly polly polly!

This, Sir, is an exparrot

hmmm, perhaps, but we only need city placements.. and surely using the official map scan is good enough for that.

what we actually need is some progress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!elevel!

Apologies for the huge bump, but I started a Circle Sea area map of my own this morning, and then thought it wise to see if anyone here had had the same idea.
I'm pleasantly surprised. :D
Civ and Discworld are two of my greatest intersests, and so combining the two would make not only my day, but my year. If anyone could find a way to combine Civ, Discworld, Sharpe and Lego, then I wouldn't be able to contain myself.

Suffice to say that I'm massively interested in this whole thing.

(Also, I reckon that Ankh-Morpork and the rest of the Sto Plains would be all one Civ, as I've always been under the impression that the rest of the cities, especially Sto Lat, are little more than suburbs of A-M, albeit fairly far-flung ones.)

nice to hear that this baby isn't dead. Unit-wise, trolls are still a problem

Yay, it's moving again..! :woohoo:
Let's all poke it with a stick and see what'll happen :hmm:

Seriously, I'm very happy to see this thread alive again!

Regarding the trolls, that would depend on whether you want them as a separate civilization or not. AFAIK the only development trolls outside Ankh-Morpork undergo is when they stop trying to eat humans  So you could give civs like A-M a tech like Troll Immigration which allows building Aaglo's Stone Elemental, and that's the only troll you need.

Regarding Ankh-Morpork and the Sto Plains, I agree that the small kingdoms on the Sto Plains are under a heavy A-M influence. On the other hand their politics are fundamentally different, where "boundaries wriggle like snakes as small, formal wars, marriage pacts, complex alliances and the occasional bit of sloppy cartography change the political shape of the land" (- The Discworld Companion). Ankh-M could be fun to play as a city state surrounded by the Sto Plains... :mischief:

I doubt they are smart enough to form a civilization as such. But they are the heavy duty workers of Ankh Morpork. So they should be featured in some way. As workers at least. In Überwald they are banned and in Klatch they are far too stupid to be able to do anything usefull. Since they are smarter the colder it is. We could also use LOTR trolls.

If you guys are still interested in this, the map I posted on page 1 (here ) is free to use for anything you want. When I was making the map I also combined snoopy's terrain with the ocean texture from Lukree's Space Terrain for the area outside the disc, and made a waterfall effect for the edge of the disc. I've posted an image of Krull (which unfortunately does not reach right to the edge of the world due to the need for some coast between land and ocean) that shows what I mean. This is available too if anyone wants it, though it's not quite finished and there's a couple of tiles that don't match up right.

I'm not sure if giving Landmark Terrain new graphics is possible (I've never used landmark terrain). I'm not intending to continue working on this scenario - my copy of Civ IV should be arriving soon and I have a couple of maps planned for that. Like I said though, the stuff I've made is available for anyone who wants it.

i think its more important now to work of what civs we are going to use, and what units we have to use.

Should this be a scenario where citys cannot be built- are all placed at start?

eugh- bump again

Hello, I am quite looking forward to this scenario, and would like to help. I don't know how to code, create units, or change aspects of the game. But, i do know how to map,(a Little) and have a great understanding of the Discworld books. Please tell me how I can help.
