How can I edit Civilizations' colors? (Tile color)

Hi,

In short I'd like to edit colors of a few civilizations (the tile color from culture). I would prefer a more bright cyan color for Greece so I went ahead and tried editing it. I found the files "CIV4ColorVals" and "CIV4PlayerColorInfos" in DOC folders and managed to find Greece from the latter file. To my surprise, according to the file Greece is already assigned the color "Cyan", though to me it looks more like the Argentinian light blue/grayish. However, I proceeded and tried first to solve this by adjusting PLAYER_CYAN colors found in the CIV4ColorVals file by increasing Green and decreasing Blue. This didn't however seem to have any effect so what I did next was adding a new color to the CIV4ColorVals file which I tried assigning to Greece by editing the appropriate line in CIV4PlayerColorInfos to match my newly created color. This didn't work either and I saw no changes when I started a new game.

As I'm pretty much out of ideas now, I'd be overjoyed if somebody could help me out with this. I'm sorry for the rather unclear explanation here, so if there's anything I should explain better about this issue please let me know! :D

EDIT: Fixed some typos

CIV4PlayerColorInfos does not control which color a civ uses. You can find this in CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml, and then find your way back to CIV4PlayerColorInfos and CIV4ColorVals from there.

First, thanks for quick reply! Alright, so I found this file and it appears Greece has their default color set as "SILVER". So now I tried and edited the line so it says now: <DefaultPlayerColor>PLAYERCOLOR_CYAN</DefaultPlayerColor>

However, I think I'm still missing something here as I saw no changes when I began my game? Or do I have to keep it as SILVER and then edit the color SILVER in CIV4ColorVals?

EDIT: I finally managed to do this, editing the color SILVER in CIV4ColorVals did the trick! :) Again, thanks Leo!

No, that should be it. Are you loading an existing save? Try starting a new game instead.
