I'm playing a game on Regent, standard map. I put it on random and think it was put on archipelago. I destroyed all of the other civs but one. Also I have conqured almost all of the small island around the map. There are only 2 islands left with the romans on then. How can I tell how much landmass I control so I know if I should just invade the Romans and conqure their cities until I get to 66%, or just wait till the cities on the islands expand more?

I've seen it discussed that you need to control an average of 2/3 of the world for the game. Once that threshold is reached, you win. In other words, you might need to hold 3/4 of it for a century or two to bring the average above the 2/3.

also onthe demogrpahic screen it will tell you just how much landmass you actually have

also isnt it if you have 2 thirds of the population you can win

I found a the utility to see what percentage of landmass and population I need. I only needed 2% more of the population, so when I have some time I have a feeling I'm going to win that game. Thanks for your help!

Now the Romans keep getting more people! Each turn I only need like one more person, and I get it, but they keep building more people too. They have a larger military than me, so is there any way that I could lower the population of one of their main cities without causing war? Or would it be safe to bombard one of their main cities and hope that they won't attack me and I win at the beginning of my next turn?

You do not need an average of the land mass, or 2/3 of the population. You only need 66.67% of the total land+coastal tiles on the map to get domination. In GOTM 6 I stayed 1 tile under the domination limit until 2050 A.D. then claimed a few more tiles and triggered domination.

Thanks, Bamspeedy.

WetPirate, bombard a big city a few dozen times, maybe that will tip the scales...
