How can I reduce my warmonger rating?

I'm currently playing the 4/20 version, playing Byzantium on Epic speed, Huge map (PlanetSim) with 22 civs, and most of the world has denounced me as a warmonger because I defend myself aggressively when attacked, resulting the in the vassalage/conquest of 2 of my neighbors.

I WANT to peacefully exist with my neighbors at this point. Are there any ways to repair relations with the other civs or should I just accept that violence is the only diplomatic option I have here?

I don't know any method. If warmonger score more then 300-400, then it will be all game. If below 200, then you need just wait and trying to pass Casus Belii to decrease it faster.

Improving relations needs time before all, but is possible in my experience:

Maintain a large army to prevent war declarations.
Don't defend aggressively or attack even, let the warmonger penalties decay. In the meantime, use all the tiny options to get positive diplomatic modifiers, send trade routes, give in to demands, propose the right resolutions. It also helps if there are other guys not liked by everyone, so denounce them with the others. Diplomacy goes in small steps :) If your warmonger penalties are too large, it's possible that you will stay the enemy, however, especially with people that don't share your ideology.

If possible, liberate some nearby cities back to their original owner.

2 vassals is a lot, the AI is never going to like you for doing that.

Only problem there is that Shaka is the only other conqueror on my continent, and he's also been a total bro throughout the whole ordeal. This is probably helped by the fact that I've had a defense pact with him for every war I've had after the first. That said the world at least doesn't seem united against me, seems like each continent has developed a power block. I'm just the unfortunate figurehead for my continent it seems.

Also if they didn't want to become my vassals they shouldn't have picked a fight with me. Deus Vult!

When Shaka eventually attacks you, use the opportunity to relieve him of any captured cities. Mass liberation is pretty much the only way I know to get out of deep warmonger hatred.

Actually Venice declared war on me so I'll probably be liberating some City-States. On the Zulu front thought I'm pretty sure Shaka won't betray me so long as we're on a united war. Also I play with random personas so I'm not sure HOW aggressive Shaka is this game. Could be he only conquered those Inca cities because Patchi was being a jerk, which he was.

Build nukes and then vote for nuclear proliferation while playing as Korea?

As a side, is it possible to capture a capital in a war and immediately liberate it to your enemy? Or is there a cool down?
